I'm constantly beating up myself mentally, for mistakes or choices I've made . I wish I'd been more involved with useful things (career/major wise) in college . Wish I'd done so many things differently!
It's such a struggle, to balance stuff, especially when you have adhd and BP. I'm sick of berating myself . I just want to be happy with who I am, and where I am in life. I was once.
I'm considering giving therapy one more shot.
Has anyone been able to overcome regret, with much success?
Thanks for reading

I feel the same way too. Regret a lot of little and big things in my life. It's hard when the bad memory is replaying in the head on loop and the feeling of regret is just eating you up from the inside. Maybe the most helpful thing I've heard (or read, don't remember where) is that you might not be able to change what has happened in the past but you can fill your future with more positive things and over time it could outweigh the regrets you currently feel and, of course everyone has heard this, that we learn from our mistakes and regrets let us know what we should do if we are faced with a similar situation again in the future. Just something to keep in mind.

Well. Someone once said that if you've lived life without regrets you haven't lived a life worth living. And to some extend I think that's true (although most of the time I really would rather be without them).

I guess, when it comes down to it, I have been given quite a few things the exact moment I needed them. Whether it was a family member who came back into my life. Or help at work when I was terribly stuck. Or an unlikely friendship. And if I was anymore ahead or behind of where I am, I would have missed it. And so, even though I really want to do my life over again, I really am glad for some of the things that came out of hard times that put me where I am today.

I'll leave you with this quote that helped me some:

"The head of a company survived 9/11 because
His son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was
His turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her
Alarm clock didn’t go off in time.
One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike
Because of an auto accident.
One of them
Missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take
Time to change.
One’s
Car wouldn’t start.
One couldn’t
Get a taxi.
The one that struck me was the man
Who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,
Took the various means to get to work but before.
He got there, he developed a blister on his foot.
He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today..
Now when I am
Stuck in traffic,
Miss an elevator,
Turn back to answer a ringing telephone…
All the little things that annoy me,
I think to myself,
This is exactly where
I’m meant to be
At this very moment"
