Since I have a lot of mood swings I never know just how things are going to be at the end of the day.

But the crying spells are different. They don't happen that often but I know when one is about to hit. It doesn't seem to matter if I have some feel good moments beforehand. I guess the crying has to works its way out.

Anyway, I dread it because a lot of emotional pain comes with a crying spell.

Does anyone else have crying spells that are predictable?

BTW, it doesn't have to do with PMS in my case but it may be some other kind of cyclical thing.

Mine usually hit with no warning unless I get trigger by someone.
Thanks for this!

Hi ManxCatWoman. I too have had some crying spells lately. What bugs me is they happen at work, and one even happened in front of a boss. I like to show more of an air of control, but sometimes it's not possible. Best wishes.
Thanks for this!

Sorry to hear, Sorcerer. In a strange way I wish I couldn't predict mine. It would probably save me a lot of dread, if that makes sense.

Hope yours get better.

I know what you mean. I'm not employed at this time but I remember when I really had some big ones at work. They sent me to an employee assistants program. It was embarrassing but I guess my employer needed to do it.

I hope things get better for you.

Hello, manxcatwoman. I did some looking and found two articles that may be of benefit:

Crying Spells
Common causes of Sudden onset of crying spells - RightDiagnosis.com

Sorry you have to deal with the spells. Perhaps, your general practitioner may have some answers for you? Or, see Clyde's answer here: http://answers.psychcentral.com/Gene...for-no-reason/

I wish you well.
Thanks for this!

Thanks, glok. I definitely fit into the depression and personality disorder category.

It's amazing just how many mental and medical diseases can bring on crying spells.

The links are very interesting.

I have never heard of this issue exactly. But its a bit comical because I just started a thread (new member so won't be up for a while) about being afraid to cry. Comical in an endearing, comforting way.

I am afraid to cry because I do NOT want to feel these feelings (going through break-up).
It will probably happen at some point if and when I am unable to send the feelings to hell and be done with them.

The emotional pain you have when a crying spell comes on; would it help if I suggested that you say, "no" loudly to any strong and unrelated emotions? By unrelated I mean something other than the true reason you're crying at that very moment.

My heart goes out to you in your time of pain.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
