A tragic event happened in my family & I only eat once a day, that's forcing myself No bowel movement. Can't sleep..I'm sad then I'm scared, then I'm angry but mostly sad. My depression is affecting my 16 year old son & I don't know what to do about it. He just looks sad & does nothing. We moved away from all his friends. I feel horrible, like I'm just a figure who sits here while he does nothing.

cantbreathe, is there any way you could get to your regular doctor and tell him/her what's happening?

I agree, can you talk to anyone - like a doctor, or call a helpline - or do you have any friends that you might be able to call up? Do you feel able to explain a bit more about what happened here?

I did, she just gave me anxiety meds. I just don't know what to do with my time or who to talk to.

my husband was in a near fatal accident for months after my diagnosis and I have been his caregiver ever since.he has had brain damage but workmans comp does not get him the proper care so the other day he had a breakdown of sorts andhe ended up brandishing a weapon and I had to call 911. I told them he needed mental help but all they did was arrest him. Now there is a restraining order and I cannot even see him. This whole thing got blown way out of proportion.I told my doctor, she only gave me medication. My friends listen but don't really offer any support.

Oh goodness, can you possibly call a helpline? You definitely need some form of support.

They might be able to help you think a bit more clearly about how to cope with the situation. Also, I don't know if you have a faith, but I have found some faith helplines helpful too. It sounds like you could really do with an advocate of some kind for the situation with your husband. I'm not sure what's available in the US - here in the UK mental health charities can provide one which can be invaluable. I hope these thoughts help a little bit and that you are able to get a good night's rest. Take care, Roseblossom |

Hi, just realised that I forgot to mention something. You said that your husband had experienced mental health issues and also that you had depression - I've had both and have experienced some headway taking nutritional supplements - in particular taking vitamin C as ascorbic acid powder (about 1/3 a teaspoon or more mixed with a little water - I take a teaspoon now) - it made a significant difference (and a tub of powder works out cheaper - you can buy it online).
I also take a natural multivitamin/mineral tablet and omega oils. If you've been under a lot of stress, your nutrient levels might be depleted so it could be worth a go upping them for at least a few months. If you're on a tight budget I'd really recommend the vitamin C powder. It might also be worth googling 'loss of appetite' and vitamin levels to see if there's any other scientific evidence out there. I've recommended a website on other threads called www.doctoryourself.com because it has lots of evidence for which vitamins and minerals are helpful to take. Hope you're feeling a bit better today x |
