I've noticed over the last couple months or so when something happens that usually angers or upsets me, I have started just feeling numb and almost emotionless about it because this something keeps happening quite a bit more often than usual.
I'm at my wits end with this situation that is making me feel numb. I don't want to deal with it anymore. I want to run away but I can't. What is going on with me? It's like I don't care to feel anymore. I still cry sometimes but that's about it.

Kittyfaye, sorry you are feeling discomfort. Getting numb is a defense mechanism.

The following may help fend off the feelings that are difficult and return you to a state of openness.

Breathing exercise
If you are feeling very anxious or angry or just want to calm down, you can try a breathing exercise that takes the attention away from the trigger of anxiety to a simple tool of counting breaths.

Find a comfortable position seated or laying down. Begin to relax your breathing. Silently count 1 on the inhale, and two on the exhale. Then silently count 3 on the inhale and 4 on the exhale. Continue up to 10 or until you lose the count then return to one. No judgement. I sometimes end up at 18 then smile and return to 1. The idea is to focus on the breath and the counting and not get sucked into the anxiety or anger trigger. Also works to quiet the mind.

your thread title...what is this you are doing? well everything in your post could be any number of medical or mental or normal problems...

in general if you google your symptoms you will find over 500 million things this ca be....just a few...stress, lack of sleep, dietary problems, and just about every mental disorder and just about every physical health problem can have these symptoms...

my suggestion to find out what you are doing or what this is with in you, you will need to contact a mental health provider or a medical doctor in your actual off the computer location. Unfortunately or fortunately depending upon point of view we are not able to make this kind of diagnosis for you.
