Folks,
Today I learned from one of my volunteers that her boyfriend, who is a good friend of mine, has been verbally and emotionally abusive to her for some time. He even threatened to "kill her and her children" while he was drunk the other night.

Also, I learned that one of my family's oldest and dearest friends was diagnosed with cancer.

Hey at least my crime watch captain got 270 bags of heroin, $7000 in cash, stolen handgun and one murderer off the streets with our "Illegal dumping" camera system.

Factory poet sorry to hear of all the challenging triggers in your world. What do you think you might be able to do or talk about with your friend?

I was just about to seek advice on how to handle it. I work in the human services so I know a great deal about intimate partner abuse (read "Why Does He Do That?). But first and foremost, I do not want to provoke the situation. I told her not to blame herself and to avoid him as much as possible and that she should change her locks since he has a key.

But I am not going to confront him about it yet. If or when I do, I will be as compassionate as possible, but not until I know she is out of harm's way.

Any advice would be gratefully received...

Hi. I have had days and weeks where nothing but bad happens! It's an awful feeling. Now when that happens, I get some alone time and lose myself in my computer or craft or any distraction. I do something that will bring me happiness. It helps, it really does.
Thanks for this!

I like you tag line. Having been married to a minister, I have become quite agnostic.

Oh, later I came to learn that one of my best volunteers (from probation and parole) got picked up on an outstanding warrant and is spending the holidays in jail. I really fee for his mom. Pretty bad week, I'd say.
