I have gotten so I get inwardly upset about any negative comment or inference. It is really making me feel sick inside. I try to fight inside and reject it but somehow the effort just digs the hole deeper. This might be a time to feel the feelings and not run away. The agony gets so prolonged and builds. Not usually very helpful to speak at that time but try to speak about the problems when I feel more in control.

I know the feeling. The slightest thing that hits a personal nerve regarding my own self-perception will leave me frantically depressed all day. Distraction is the only way I know how to cope with it; otherwise walk around in a daze until it stops. Sleep helps.
Sorry I can't be more helpful. |

Is this a family member that is putting you down? A friend? Or are these public situations?
For me there is nothing worse than a negative comment. I grew up with that and it is a major trigger for me. I have cut myself away from people who can't respect me. I've had to chat with a family member about their negativity. I am terrified of confrontation so my conversation was not directed towards them specifically. It went much like "I've been having this problem with someone and my therapist has said it is resulting in...." This seemed to do the job quite nicely. |

pianogirlplays,
is the negative comments including online? if so,i recommend taking a break from online use. when cyber bullying triggered my severe pyschosis and depression into one big ball of hell,i took a break off all forums/chat websites for months and just looked at memes/pictures instead,it helped me a lot. as for commenting in spoken word,i understand,i am the same it comes with being depressed especialy,.

nothing worse than a negative comment to bring you die . it's judgment, insensitivity, and misunderstanding all shooting at u like a dart , then you can't help but dwell on it. I'm not sure if I makes you mad or want to cry or both, but sadly it contributes to the depression. I went through something like that today, my boss totally confronted me about my "attitude" which one? I'm in meds and feel indifferent... I guess that was the 'tude. well suffice it to say it made me feel like ****, and it's ok to just feel like that .. and just let it withdraw from you like sweat... go through whatever motions are necessary. at the end you're battling something severe, it's depression.. ignorant people won't understand or their just selfish jerks.. if u see it that way maybe you won't feel as bad. at the end u just said f u , well in my head I did and I felt a bit better. don't let the comment bring u down.

People that have negative things to say often don't realize how much hurt they are causing you. I often get hurt by what people have to say. Sometimes, I think letting them know they've hurt me can make them stop, but other times i fear that doing so will only expose my 'weakness' to them and their bullying will only get worse.
