I feel like I have been on the biggest emotional rollercoaster since getting clean from prescription pills seven months ago. I used for ten years. Since getting clean, I am finally feeling the loss of my daughter's father, a long-term relationship that ended before that, along with many emotions over people that I lost a/o hurt along the way while I was using. (Some of these are feelings that stem from 3-5 years ago!) I have apologized to some people and I forgiven people that hurt me in an effort to move on from this. I think the hardest thing that I am dealing with is forgiving myself. I guess I am just trying to figure out how to process these feelings in a positive way.

Being in recovery and having been around the rooms it sounds like... you know that we are not to trust our feelings for the sabatouge us everytime. And we are not our feelings or our emotions... those are just symptoms of memories floating to the surface and how we deal with them. Anytime we are in recovery from substance abuse, regardless of what it is the body as well as the mind goes through withdrawls and we act out unrationally. As the saying goes... this too shall pass... tc and blessings

Thank you so much for your words in this post. It's probably the best advice anyone has given me about how to deal with the emotions in recovery. ![]()
