I inwardly berate myself for every perceived supposedly wrong move. From food to marriage and everything in between. It really hurts ! It is hard to stop! I also suffer from other people's supposed wrongs! I berate myself for the things I see that are wrong in the news. How can I rid myself of this incredible over responsibility?

Some of this may have come from being criticized harshly in your past. You have learned that you have to take responsibility for all wrongs. I think you have to learn to be more self-compassionate. Allow yourself to make mistakes and be at peace with those mistakes and give up the need to blame. Be supportive of yourself when something goes wrong as if it was a friend making that mistake.

I know how you feel. I'm my own worst critic, and not in a good, constructive way.

Oh,my God,send for perfection police! Try little things
like that to lighten self up. Another,Oh,quick, phone local
newspaper for headline,I MADE A MISTAKE! Say
stuff like this to self out loud when alone, really get into
it. Another thing I used to do when writing, was, when I
did make mistake,I would deliberately score line right
down page, then carry on writing. What I'm saying here
is,reverse psychology, take piss out of self; I used to go
into catastrophe mode: "Oh, Jesus Christ! Oh,my God,
I've spilled sh t on carpet,oh quick, phone perfect police, they'll do me for sure for this one! Get it?
Another one for me,was to turn round and imagine I was putting strip of duct-tape over dear mama's mouth
(where all this came from) and saying "sit on your butt
and keep your mouth shut!" It is most satisfying! Ho,ho,ho!
Courage,
BLUEDOVE

Try thinking of your mistakes as successfully learning what not to do. It may help a little.

Have you looked at cognitive therapy? I think this might be helped by checking ur thought patterns, and turning into healthy ones!

Check out cognitive restructuring
