I feel numb as can be. Actually, almost in pain. I feel the occasional streak of heart wrenching pain as the day passes. Why? My mother made the executive decision to give a close family friend my beloved Chihuahua because she wanted to reduce the animal numbers to two animals.

I was prepared to say goodbye to the Chihuahua/Pom mix we had for two years (mostly because I knew the lady adopting him for a really long time and know he'll be going to a good home) but the pure bread Chihuahua was special to me. I lost a Chihuahua a few years ago to a dog attack from a rather unpredictable foster. Long story short, the Chihuahua I had back then couldn't be saved and had to be let go from her suffering.

This new Chihuahua just filled the hole in my heart that was torn open by losing the first Chihuahua, but now my mother practically gave her away to a lady that lives all the way south in Mississippi. I'll probably never see my little girl again. I guess I'll have to tear out that sweater I was knitting for her for the upcoming winter....she won't be needing it anymore....

Am I being selfish in wanting my Chihuahua? Mom can get rid of some other dog. The cocker mix I think I can stand to part with. I love them all so much, but the Chihuahua was just so special to me.

I'd like to thank those who took the time to read this, and even offer hugs. Just knowing that I was heard is comforting in and of itself.

I'm going through stages of severe depression where I'm just not in the mood to eat, or do much, to being full of boundless manic energy. All within the span of hours. Maybe the caffeine in the diet coke is contributing to this severely rapid cycling? Perhaps I'm just going through stages of grief? Who knows?

You are going through the normal stages of grief. Finish the sweater and give it to another dog. One day when you have your own place you can get a chihuahua again.

I'm so sorry you have lost your much loved pet.

Is there any way this lady can update you on the dog, via email or facebook photos? Or would that make you feel more sad?

It's hard. I lost a cat few years back and still am not completely over. It's understandable
