If I said people in my family I made a mistake. My family is disordered so their opinion doesn't matter. In terms of people online they don't know me only my verbal skills which have gotten me in a lot of trouble. I trying to tone it down so I don't draw as much attention. I've gotten some advice on this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It is not a common occurrence which is why it upsets me so much. I'm not used to it. I experience it as psychological abuse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think since these are people you don't know and who you are talking only online, then the best option is not talking to them. No obligation to talk to them.
I don't know if it's abuse or not but simple solution would be not to go on those sites. My students often struggle with drama they get themselves into online. When they block people or get off the internet they always feel much better. I would think same with adults. If interactions on the Internet upset you, you have freedom of limiting or stopping it all together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They abuse their power and it has nothing to do with me. Ignoring is a good option and this forum encourages it which I like. It hasn't been an option in other forums. I'm having a more positive experience here because of that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Why isn't it an option on other forums? Isn't using forums or posting on forums an option? You aren't required to be on those forums, right? We often can't avoid people in real life such as colleagues etc but we sure can avoid online forums.

Thanks rainy day. I've read what others have said about PD and I learned that even though I've been treated for my PD it appears that sometimes I have what looks like PD behavior on the surface. I know I am not the only one with this problem. This situation has provided me with an opportunity to increase my compassion towards others who haven't been treated yet. I have to remember that PD is a mental illness and it's not the fault of people who suffer from it. I get triggered by people who display BPD symptoms like paranoia towards me so I know what it's like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by leomama; Aug 26, 2016 at 11:05 AM. |

All of the forums I had trouble on were forums I was on before I was diagnosed with a PD. The last one I was having trouble on was because I was displaying "PD-ish" behaviors. I remember that because I actually came here and asked for help. I've been judged however I'm using that to my advantage to help me develop more compassion towards people with BPD who haven't had the good fortune of long term therapy, Dbt or even medication . It was long after the dx of complex PTSD that I learned that complex PTSD and BPD have a lot in common. I got to know people on another forum that had complex PTSD who really wanted everyone to know it wasn't BPD. The p doc that dx me with complex PTSD was more interested in treating symptoms then disorders. This is getting complicated so I'll leave it at that. The bottom line for me is PD is a mental illness and it is not the fault of people who suffer from it so I am using this as an opportunity to practice compassion. It is my emotional regulation training that allows me to turn my resentment into compassion. Dbt works! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by leomama; Aug 26, 2016 at 11:04 AM. |

it's hard. we know we have to develop thick skin, but it's not as easy as it sounds. if you say it's easy, then we feel you're judging us.

Oh being judged for being "thin skinned" is easy to being called a narcissist. That's a new one. People in my real life don't call me that. Today I don't care if they call me a narcissist. I got over it.
