In this moment, I am feeling very alone. I am craving connection and being involved very much. I feel isolated. i think the holidays were better, because people were around. Now everyone is back to work, and I don't know what to do with myself. It's back to the old, "I don't feel like it," and "I'm to nervous to..." for me. Ugh!

I actually have a lot of things coming up that I've planned! I'm going to be volunteering. I'm going to be taking a dance class. And I'm going to be taking a meditation class. All in the community. I am going to do my best to go and do these things! It's my main goal to show up. I am learning about depression, and how you can "Feel the depression...and do it anyway." Pretty much like feel the fear and do it anyway. I'm learning about willpower too. A lot goes into it besides just pushing oneself to do things.

I'm going to go for a walk.

Wow it sounds like you have some really good things planned there starrysky, and they sound like exactly the right kind of things to get you connected and involved. Well done for sourcing those out, hope you can let us know how things are going with that.

I was planning on going to the gym tonight, but went out and got burger king instead. :-O I can probably still go to the gym later tonight if I feel like it. It's snowing now so we'll see. I do notice that when I focus on something I want myself to do but I don't "Feel like doing it," it's harder to do it when I focus on it? Idk. Anyway, I have a blog on psych central now. Maybe I can write about my progress with showing up there. Have a good night.

I get what you're saying
It's harder to get going and do
then it is to actually do
I like your plan
Keep trying
You can do it

Just curious about what you said about [willpower- A lot goes into it besides just pushing oneself to do things.] What do you mean?

Hi zijax, I am learning that there has been scientific research done on willpower. From what I understand, It's like a muscle, in the sense that if you don't use it, you lose it. Also we as people have only a certain amount of willpower each day. So its something that can be used up, or saved. There are ways we can help ourselves get more energy. In Kelly McGonigal's book The Willpower Instinct, she talks about exercise and meditation as being just two of the many things. I'm reading it now, though I am only on like chapter 3 and have to pick it back up.

Thanks June and Mickey Cheeky! I went to my dance class yesterday and I went to zumba today (though zumba was not in my plans, I'm glad I did it). At zumba, I have been there just a little in the past. But the teacher noticed me and introduced herself, and then was like, "Everybody say hi to starrysky!" Haha, so awkward but really nice too

I admire you committing to these various endeavors. This is truly healthy. Sometimes, the pay off doesn't come right away, but stay with these pursuits. You are doing yourself a great deal of good.
