Let me set the scene for everyone. I'm 45 years old and graduated high school some 25 years ago. I have a great job and get paid quite well. The problem is that I'm still upset that I never got selected to be in the National Honor Society. It really irks me!
There's a part of me that wishes they would call me to do the commencement speech so that I could say, NO! I really want to let this go, but these thoughts always come back especially at the end of the school year.

May I ask why not getting on the national honor society really bothers you? It seems quite trivial from an outside perspective, perhaps I am missing something?

No you're not missing anything. And it is quite trivial. I really don't know why it bothers me. I've noticed that as I've gotten older it bothers more and more. In fact, it didn't bother me in high school. It's really a bit of a mystery to me now.

Are you feeling more depressed now?

Maybe a talk with a therapist would be helpful? I'm not sure
