Do you have a therapist or school counsellor you can talk with? If not, talk to your doctor about maybe seeing one. It helps to get the negative emotions out sometimes, also coming here for support really helps. You are not alone in feeling hopeless, i know that feeling all too well. (Hugs) |

you can even talk to your family doctor. If they feel it is warranted they can refer you further up the mental healthcare line. Question: can you turn to the doctor who prescribed you that medication? That would be part of their responsibility in terms of followup.
As another poster suggested, I strongly warn you against trying to self-diagnose. The internet and forums like this are great for learning about a mental illness after one gets diagnosed. Remember too we are not professionals. it was also pointed out that medications don't immediately take effect. Most take 6-8 weeks but it is not unheard of for much longer than that. In the meantime, we here can offer suggestions on coping strategies. I recognise the melancholy but could there be some underlying anxiety too. Start perhaps with a physical object you can touch and concentrate on when you feel triggered. I have a strange stone I often keep in my pocket that I will rub. It sounds silly but I keep three coffee beans in my pockets too (a longer story). |
