I have always been a bit...odd.

But what is normal? What exactly makes someone insane?

I don't exactly know how I am mad or 'mentally insane'.I came here to find out why I am. I'm still not sure though. I'm just a very weird person. I can be angry, sad, immature, lazy etc.

I'm very different around different people. I am impulsive. I get angry easily. I do stupid, thoughtless things. I don't really have any emotion. I have few friends. My moods do fluctuate. I can be cruel to animals. People can see me as 'eccentric'. I'm cold and distant. I don't think about the consequences of my actions. I have a very overactive imagination.

Does this make me mad though? Does this make me insane? What do you all think? Should I see a therapist? Do any of you have any idea what is wrong with me?

What is normal depends on the environment you live in. If you are born into a tribe that engages in canibalism, then eating human flesh might not be a sign of madness for you.

Basically, being sane means being able to competently cope with the challenges that you encounter in the world in which you live. You don't have to cope superbly with every single challenge. You have to cope well enough to get your basic needs met, so that you are not almost always in severe distress. Being weird or immature or cruel doesn't make a person insane.

No one can possibly figure out what might be wrong with you on the basis of the info you provide. If you are very unhappy most of the time, then something is wrong. First talk to your doctor. It probably would be a good idea to see a therapist. Your doctor should be able to refer you to one.

Instead of trying to figure out what you are, ask yourself what it is that you want that you have been unable to get. You sound young. You sound unhappy. That's a problem. It does sound like you need help.
Thanks for this!

Hey there,

Definitely seek guidance from your GP who can either send you to see a counsellor or if they think appropriate send you to your local mental health team. It's different for different people. We all experience life differently and our experiences lead us to develop coping skills to get us through the hard and weird times. Feel free to chat away we are hear to listen and not judge you :-)
Thanks for this!

I agree with Rose and Miss Laura about getting help if you're unhappy. Best wishes.

I'd definitely see a therapist if your behavior is creating some difficulties to you.. I don't think you're mad, though.

You don't sound insane to me.
It does sound like you could benefit from working with a therapist in order to sort things out and to have a more fulfilling life.
I hope you'll get involved with a good therapist.

To much self judgement here. Take an easy on yourself. As suggested above, counseling can help.

Counseling would help. Keep track of your moods and see if there are any triggers. If not it's still an issue.
