I really hate them. Really. I never get invited to do anything and, if I did, I probably would't go. But also I hate the feeling that I can't escape them. For instance tonight I can't escape the fireworks. Even in my own house. Someone will fire them off. I have to go to work tomorrow. My cat is scared of fireworks?

I hate like the family holidays! When I had a family it was always a miserable time as we were all on top of each other and now, I have to feel so badly about not having a great family gathering.

I hate the constant pre holiday "any plans for the -- 4th? Thanksgiving? Christmas? Father's day?

One time someone I was working with at my job wished me happy mother's day. I made my self miserable wondering if I should tell him.

The only holiday I truly enjoy is Halloween because that seems like something that is for everyone.

I totally understand how you feel. My family are non existent & holidays have always been very lonely times. Not everyone has great family gatherings, it's just that media expect that we all will!!! I send my T a Father's Day card each year!!! That's how sad I am!!

Kindred spirits!

I stopped celebrating holidays back in 1993 and it has decreased the stress in my life significantly so I have more time time to be neurotic about other things!

I've come up with numerous comebacks to mainstream challenges, one being the "life stance" theme. The supreme court has ruled in various cases that an individual's life stance is equal to a religious belief and no one is to be discriminated against for their religious belief, so back off,Okay?

I hate almost all holidays except for Halloween.

I especially hate Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Valentine's Day because I find this trio of holidays especially triggering since I have no family or loved ones to enjoy them with.

I do have a family to visit on Christmas and thanksgiving but I am the "pity" date only invited for the charity spot. At first I didn't go I went traveling but then I figured I better take it while I could. So now I am the pity date the events. I would invite them over here but they act like the place is contaminated by my cooties.

Valentines day, HA, I don't even count that one anymore.

There was a time I hated them because I felt so alone. Heck, I even resented other people for enjoying them.

After years of feeling this way I finally made the decision to get up and out and do something; to attend what celebrations there were even if it meant doing so alone. I needed to make my own traditions and embrace the holidays making them my own. Screw other people's ideas of how one ought to celebrate.

However fireworks are difficult for me as I see them as difficult for some people and even politically incorrect for others. I cringe when I hear them not because I myself am bothered but because I am aware they can be horribly triggering for others. Why do we continue with such an archaic practise?

I did that for a while.. I traveled on the holiday and maybe this breaks it down to what I really dislike.. on most holidays it is like the world stops.

When I traveled of course I got the flight but, I always worried about the people who were working that day and 1/2 the stores were closed. It wasn't a "full day".

I even feel a little phobic about it because I know if I get sick, the staff won't be up to full speed. I remember the fear and panic of my elderly parents getting sick on the holiday. My mom had an appendix burst on x-mas eve and it was so hard getting people to really be competent.

But, in general.. I hate the way the world stops... there is nothing on tv.. can't get mail... can't shop...

I don't get into them. The wealthy elite just make money of them. Especially Christmas. I'm not a big fan of independence day. They got their independence from the King of England and then took the independence away from a whole race the north American Indian. I'm not a Indian and am glad I had no part in this. Merry Christmas oops I mean happy holy-days.

I dislike holidays. Not because I am alone on holidays but for the opposite reason: cannot be alone. The only people I am willing to have around for holidays are my husband and daughter. But I have to deal with difficult extended families on both sides. Ugh. I can't stand it. It's always something. I am dreading holidays every year

I hate the holidays too now since I hate spending time with family members I dislike and I never get invited to hang out myself really either and if I invite others, no one wants to hang out unless it is with other friends. I know exactly how you feel. I don't mind Halloween because I like chocolate every so often and I don't mind Thanksgiving because of the stuffing lol, but other than that, I dislike holidays.

Same here, have the same problem. I used to absolutely love them when I was a kid. Now I don't. I actually think most people, other than kids, hate holidays. They just hang out with family members out of obligation which I hate doing and eventually I will stop doing once I get my own place.

I used to think about the holidays , but I am all alone now , so to me they are just another day. Except for one , and thats Christmas.

When I was a kid my mom and dad would have this big tree with all kinds of really neat toys , and they would stay up all night building this stuff so I would be surprised , I miss those times as much as I miss my parents.

When I was not such a kid , my mom told Christmas is the Lord`s Birthday , so don`t forget to wish him a Happy Birthday.

To this day I still do , so I guess I like Christmas for what it means in the world of christianity , I am not sure how others are going to take what I just wrote , but I mean no disrespect to anyone of any religion.

So , most holidays mean very little , if anything , but Christmas to me will always have a space in my heart and my faith.

I am not a "bible pusher" , I just want to make that clear !!

The only holiday I appreciate is the Christmas holiday season... I love Christmas lights, I like holiday music, and I enjoy the nostalgic feelings that I experience around that time of year...
