Every once in a while, I just have a crappy attitude. I know it's there, but I'm not sure what to do about it.

What solutions have you found for your crappy attitude?

I am not sure about crappy attitude, but I do struggle with negative thinking sometimes. For example, today was a rough day at work and started thinking of all the negatives about the job...but then I re-framed my thinking and told myself I should feel fortunate to have a job, and one that suits me pretty well.

Sometimes it's as simple as changing a negative thought into a positive thought, or at least making it neutral.

For me, it's more like I just want my way. I want everyone around me to do what I want when I want it.

And I've never like holidays much. They bring back a lot of bad memories.

We try to accept our attitudes we can't take back the decision to go on the journey no matter what happen along the way. I just make sure it is needed our attitude so we don't seem so numb and detached all the time. When I want to get rid of it I make sure I can get rid of it by speaking getting a positive, saying at least it wasn't this bad. Finding something positive is easy when you are like this for us there is always something you can talk back into your mind, stating I'm okay with it. I just make sure my circles are small and folks I'm around aren't the culprit. Sometimes it takes certain people to make you trend something that you are not willing to own as yourself. If you get branded as a 'problem', then I think you have to take a look at why that is. Is a place notorious for it's issues? Do you remember attitude to attitude? Overthinking is only for certain ones I don't think that is bad thing either.

A crappy attitude is a chronic condition with me, shakespeare, so I commiserate.

Scaredandconfused's rethinkinking concept works for me, also. I am free to choose my thoughts, which elicit emotions, so I try to focus on the positive. Easier said than done.

And I have to remind myself that I'm working a 12 step program of Emotions Anonymous- talk the talk and walk the walk.

"It works if you work it."

Ever come across the idea that thoughts are only activities that happen in the brain?

That's helpful for me to remember.

"thoughts are only activities that happen in the brain". Interesting concept. I hadn't thought of it in that way, shakespeare, but I can see how that could contain a thought so it could be kept in perspective.

I often think of thoughts as books on a shelf. It's up to me which book I want to read or which thought I want to focus upon.

After how long do you usually realize you've had a bad attitude? If it's shortly after, you can try to correct yourself, or maybe even just apologize.

I just replied this to another post. It is an exercise given to me when I was in a pretty foul and negative mood.

I was told to write two lists: the first being to write out everything that was advantageous about my crappy attitude; then I was to write out what was disadvantageous. Well, the second list sure was a lot longer than the first. Basically, there was nothing positive about my negative mood.
