Well, this sux. My elderly cat Pumpkin has had a host of health problems the last year and a half, he's got diabetes, and pemphigus. The last 24 hours he's not himself. He threw up a few times, and isn't interested in his favorite thing...food. He's eating. But not like he usually does. There's no greed and gusto in it. It may just be yet another bump in the road. Or it could be the beginning of the end for him.

I'm very sad. I just had a conversation with him while he was resting telling him how much he's meant to me. I adopted him in 2004 when he was 2 from a no kill shelter. I was diagnosed in 2005 with MDD. He was there for me then and he's been with me through so much over these last 13 years. He just finished eating a little bit, and he's drinking water. He goes to the litter box by himself, but today, I just saw something so different about him. He seems so weak. I was hoping I'd have a little more time. He's my best friend. My first cat and my first pet that was mine alone. All the dogs in my life had been family pets. He's followed me to various apartments, different states and now we're back home in Calif. It's just sad to watch.

Thanks for reading.

That's so sad. I hope it's just a bad day and not the beginning of the end

I personally know how hard it is to lose a beloved furbaby. I hope you can take peace in knowing he is well loved and cared for by you and that you are giving him the best send off to the Rainbow Bridge you can. Please take care and be kind to both him and yourself now.

Fingers crossed that he is just having a down day and that things are ok. I have a cat and a dog who have helped me through so much....the cat especially. I hope he's ok. Best wishes.

I'm sorry. We're lost two cats, and I always feel sad. Each cat is different. I hope your cat will get better and hang on for awhile.

Hi Guys!

It appears that he just got an upset stomach from some A & D ointment I put on the skin on his nose to help heal it. He's back to baseline. Which means, back to being demanding and greedy!!!

I am glad I had that talk with him. But can you all imagine what he was thinking while I was talking to him like that? "Wait. Whats this chick's problem now? I have an upset stomach! THATS ALL!!"

In all seriousness though, I know his journey will come to an end sooner rather than later at this point. But you never really know what the Goddess Bastet has in store for him. He may still have some lessons to teach me.

Well, isn't it just like a cat to make you worry yourself sick over something so minor as a tummy ache? Such is life as a cat guardian I suppose.

Yeah it is. And then he had another kind of crappy partial day 2 days ago. I started training for a new job after being unemployed for several weeks. So I went to training and expected to see this sad pile of fur when I came back home. NOPE! he may have been reacting to some really odd, humid weather. Were in southern calif. where it's a desert environment. Hot, but dry. This weather feels like what I encountered in Houston.

So I came home, and my friend told me he'd been complaining cos he was hungry. She had to placate him with some chicken til I got home to feed him properly. He greeted me with loud complaints. as usual.
