I am sad. This birthday sucks.

I'm just feeling sorry for myself. Self pity. I'm wallowing. Sucky birthday. More to it than what I've told.

Sometimes, when there's nobody else to go in birthday, then I would ask my friends to going out on later day. Maybe the sensation is different, but it still happy.

Many great suggestions. This is from my own experience. When I was in the process of a divorce I had to live in the same house with her until I could sort things out and leave. We were married for over 35 years. We had spent many a birthday party and holidays together. Now we weren’t even talking to each other.
This went on for about 5 yrs. I had no friends or family that would talk to me.
When my 50th came around, nothing. Same for thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years etc. she’d walk right by me like I was invisible. She went out while I stood in my room with my chronic pain. I was totally alone. Then I moved out and was REALLY totally alone. The point I’m trying to make is that this whole experience forced me to either grow or die. I got to learn about myself and how to survive without all the phony bs that was ingrained in me, like birthday parties.
Like was said, everyday is special. What’s so special about me being born ?
Shouldn’t my mother have the party ? She was the one who gave birth to me.
She was the one who suffered because of me. I’m nothing special. Just another dot on this planet.
I think the real issue is your ability to be alone and deal with loneliness which is actually a separate issue. Anyhow I in no way mean to put a damper on what is and should be your special day. I just wanted to tell you how much suffering some people go through on these “ special “ days.

I am feeling better now. My friend had almost ruined our plans for last night, hence why I was feeling so down. But he pulled through for me and was a true gem.

Continuously blue, thank you for sharing your story and I am so sorry you dealt with so much pain for so long. You're right - I am having trouble being alone, that is a part of the real issue here.

I am/used to be very independent, I am not sure what is wrong with me now. I think I am scared for my future and about many more things going on in my life, and so when alone, those thoughts plague me deeply. So I just don't think about it and I avoid. I think this must be at the crux of why I've been so adamant about not being alone on my bday. I am trying very hard not to sink into a depression about things in my life that bother me. Ugh.

Anyways, thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. All will be OK, I think (I hope). I did have fun last night with my friend, and I will enjoy time with my girlfriend this eve. ((((Hugs to everyone))))
