Does anyone relate to this?

It's annoying the heck out of me.

I keep wanting to push people away because I feel like they hate me even though I know they do not. It is stressful and makes me anxious even if I know it's not true. I keep having this desire to run away from relationships/disappear to get relief from this feeling. And it makes me tempted to put up walls when that is the last thing I need to be doing.

Yes I guess I can sort-of relate this. I'm a pretty reclusive person nowadays. For me it's not so much feeling like everyone hates me as it is me simply not wanting to have anything to do with anyone. But either way I suspect the underlying reason for it may well be anxiety.

You mentioned feeling the way you do is stressful & makes you anxious. It may well be one of those situations where anxiety caused you to feel as though people hate you to begin with & then experiencing those emotions aggravated your anxiety & stress. So it becomes something of a vicious circle so to speak. The good thing is, I would presume, you're aware of the problem & how you tend to react. So you can do things to remedy the problem. So that's a good thing!

I'm not qualified to make this conclusion, but you may be projecting your hate for yourself onto others. Happy Thanksgiving!

I can relate to this. I was the type person where it mattered a great deal how people felt about me. I let my self get emotionally hurt. Not on purpose, and I guess I am still bad about that. I have always been a people pleaser, and non confrontational, and I am very bad at taking any kind of criticism. I am trying to work on this, but it is very hard for me to change when I have been this way for 50 something years. Talk with your T about it, and your T may be able to tell you things to practice to help. I know it has a lot to do with personal self esteem.

((((magicalprince)))) I can relate. I'd say it has something to do with your self-esteem. You don't think you're worthy of love so you think everyone else must hate you, since it's impossible someone actually loves you. Would that be true? Do you see a therapist?

I have these problems as well. People pleaser and non confrontational and afraid of criticism. It is hard for me to change as well. I feel like I can try to ignore the negative feelings but core self esteem is not easy to create. I don’t have a T right now but am thinking about giving it a try again.

Yep it’s sort of like that, I also hold myself to perfectionistic standards a lot
