I learnt somewhere else the value of taking people at face value and not assuming motives that may not be there..

For example if my worst abuser was a female with green hair...
I might (unconsciously perhaps) assume that other females with green hair would also be abusive..

Do you assume that certain “types” of people are to be avoided or even shunned.. without any real evidence other than a gut feeling..

I have learnt to trust my gut, it’s usually accurate

But still I’m sometimes disappointed in people

(Not about anyone on pc)

Sometimes I proceed with Intuition. The gut can be from the totality of the interaction. Body language, word choice, mannerisms, et al. There's nothing wrong with putting those safety harnesses in place. Better than blinders up, ya know?

You can certainly take everyone you meet at face value. That’s the fair thing to do. At the same time you can listen to the signals you’re getting if something is not quite right. You can observe, listen and tread carefully. Do I always do this? No. I used to like everyone immediately and it got me into a lot of trouble at times. So for the sake of everyone involved, it’s safer to just give people a chance but be careful. You can be very kind but you can also be very careful at the same time. That’s what I’ve learned to try to do. As far as “types” go, I don’t really have an issue with a personality type, except maybe overly forward people. It tends to make me nervous when people are too friendly and personal too quickly but when I think back to my past, I’ve been badly hurt by that type of person.
Thanks for this!
