Coping with cyberbullying

An image that comes to my mind is that of the so-called 'Wizard of oz' hiding behind a curtain, not so powerful or brave in reality as he wanted people to believe. That is the epitome of an internet bully to me.

Oh, Buffy, I hate that you are dealing with this. Cyberbullying is the reason I have almost no social media presence. I came to PC quite frankly to save my life. It worked. You guys and gals are my strength. But I do almost nothing else that could be considered social media for just this reason.

There are so many people out there who hide behind anonymous usernames and think that gives them the right to behave in ways they would never in real life. This is what I mean when I say I don't endorse virtually any social media. I think it can often do more harm than good. Just my take.

I have a hobby and there is a quite popular site for folks that share that interest. Massive base of members. I have been on it for quite awhile and I actually amassed the third largest post count on the site. Tens and tens of thousands. Whatever. I contributed a fair bit, if I do say so myself. Recently, the person running the site censored a thread I started because the response to that thread would have made his sponsors angry (this site has tons of ads). So, after more than 200 views, there were miraculously zero responses to this thread on a very hot topic. How about that!!

I did not PM the owner. I did not raise a ruckus. I have principles and one of them is that my country was founded on free speech. Polite and appropriate, but free expression for all. I stopped posting. I PM'd my buddy, who has the most posts. Told him I was done. Deleted everything on my profile. Changed my avatar to a burning black hole. Changed my signature quote to: The best amendment is the first amendment. I logged out and that was that. Forever. 50,000 posts--goodbye!!! Poof!

I guess what I am saying, Buffy, is that sometimes our experiences steer us in a new and different direction. I don't know about your involvement in things like facebook and Insta-whatever and Snap-whoever. But if you feel you are being bullied, maybe it is time to take another look at what you can control. There are jerks on the internet, we know this. You and I cannot, unfortunately, control that. What we can control is our participation in some of these things. Maybe it's time for you to reevaluate what you really want to do with respect to all that.

Sending you positive vibes and support. It sucks. But maybe taking some action will help empower you. I often find that when I feel most vulnerable and helpless, action can get me out of it. And then, you might feel like you have more control. All the best--

I don't know if you ever tried simply saying ''thank you for your input'' to their mean statements. Bullies thrive on negative emotion. That response is bland and emotionless. They wouldn't receive much feed from that response.

Although there are trolls everywhere, sometimes the site you are in and the type of content may contribute to a higher or lower likelihood of encountering trolls. Which site was this if you don't mind me asking?

And as someone who deals with my fair share of irate, irritated and goading gamers online, I sometimes find that responding with humor helps relieve any upset I may be feeling from people's comments. Most of the time, not responding and blocking said people will suffice.

I posted somewhere again where I have been trolled. It’s not one of the worst places, but some of the posters are extremely up themselves.

And apparently too stupid or ?????? To realise that each cold hard word lacking in human empathy directed at another poster makes this world a colder, meaner harder world. For some reason some of the posters there don’t “like” me much. Frankly I don’t give a toss since they are far from “superior” as they think they are. Yawn and growl. I only made 3 posts and I don’t think I’ll check back. One of the trolls there is still rampant. The mods there let them get away with it and even favour them. Not about anyone on pc

people are so brave behind the screens

the likelyhood of meeting that person is basically 0, so they use that to their advantage and say what ever they feel they need to

but I wonder how many people would be so bold if they met their victim

This is what happened to me on Kati Morton website. I was mobbed for a month it stop and then it happen again before I knew it I was out there! I was told that I posted triggering things and my chat was deleted went back three days later i was banned a couple of month the later on i went on a discord and was attacked by the same people using different names. I was called named one accused me of telling people she had me banned when I fact she did the last time I was on Kati website.

This is a typical description of what's termed as cyber mobbing or the online social media witch-hunting trend as it's very common within all ages 4-40-and over.
I wouldn't take this to heart as it's just dickless smurfs showing themselves up, whilst leaving evidence all over these platforms.

Youtube is a prime example of what I termed youtube groomers out seeking to involve an unwitting victim into some humiliating event at the cost of themselves for orchestrating the whole event.

We all know what the culture is at the moment, gang stalking online and offline, fake news campaigns, lockdowns, protesting about the right to be not controlled, Trump election, and all that in a few year's time will resemble the A-Team show.

Please just brush them off as it's a display of whats makes them, them!

One of the trolls on YouTube started making threats, slandering my name, reputation over a troll who was reported. These troll who admitted in YouTube out of retaliation had reported me threaten to have my YouTube account banned and threaten to call the cops on me by falsely accusing me of threatening a troll who was threaten me and other even though there was no evidence on YouTube me doing anything illegal. They began mobbing me, cyber stalking me,harassing all day and night.

Hi, Hope your O.K, this is one of the darker sides to seeking alternative supportive networks online, in a sense this has happened to me, that's why I choose this user name. My best advice would be to contact a Lawer with some recorded evidence and a personnel statement.

To take the matter further.

I did seek out legal advice and was told that there were no laws to.protect me in the state I live in. So i had to deleted my gmail and start with a new one. It been almost a year since the retaliate against me started in January of 2019. I still worried about this one being banned because it link to my old phone number. I develop ptsd from the cyber bullying, cyber stalking.

Hi, There I am so sorry this has happened to you, I can sympathize due to being subject to targeting and being told I am ****ing hallucinating, though mine is strangely in my head via microwave hearing or some other psych trick, I've been gang staked or publically mobbed yeah for sure.
You can see that in front of you via the pavement.

Have you consulted a human rights abuse advocate and would they take that up the matter on your behalf?

I know the law is way behind the current issues we face within our lives.

My situation well ****ed I am stuck at the moment, sitting out a second lockdown, being shat on.

Thank you. Yes I been gang stalk. I went to the police and was told many things and no one want to help. The only thing I got was that i was the one who would be in legal trouble.

I feel so hurt because I had said thank you for creating a video and misspell the person name and several trolls began harassing me and calling me name. I feel really hurt by this because I had ask you them to stop.

idk but sometimes I think asking them to stop feuls the fire It's probably better to ''report'' them if this is a possibility. It can be scary when several trolls are targetting and harassing us... I've been there too.
