I choose to be alone to keep my sanity. Broke up with my hubby after 15 years of gaslighting, emotional and verbal abuse. I’ve had enough.

I will be alone. but that's cuz the only two people I'd spend it with died, one last year and one this year! now I'm all alone.......


to those who have people / loved ones to spend holidays with, cherish it. if you take just one minute to think about how you'd feel on a day like that WITHOUT them, you'd gain mountains of compassion for those around you

Christmas eve ,I went and did a food shop,then was alone all day,evening,night.I got low and lonely.Alone all day tomorrow!Hope I can keep my moods up and even.If anyone needs support tomorrow message me...I am happy to help.

It sounds like you kept yourself busy and the day was peaceful. I hope you can keep yourself busy and keep your mood up. Feel free to message me if you need to talk. Things will go back to “normal” again in a few days.

I find this year, I'm having a super hard time. the whole image/idea of people with their families on Christmas, is almost sickening to me - kinda makes me angry. it's probably the D in me, along with complex grief and a boat-load of other things...

I woke up early, 4.50am to be exact!.....It's Christ...mmmmmasssss! I am looking forward to today, hopefully it will be another peaceful day for me.
I like waking up early. it's going to be a long day and night on my own.
I might get some of my ironing done!

Merry Christmas to all those celebrating alone or with others. We won’t be having a white Christmas this year but we had lots of treats and toys because we exchanged gifts early. Tomorrow will be a day of relaxation and enjoying warm weather. I wish you all good holiday cheer. Merry Christmas

Sitting here looking at my silly little Christmas lights and my silly little packages I 'wrapped' for myself, but not feeling too bad. I did something to cheer me up and I am proud of myself for it. Make lemonade!!

I just discovered this thread just now. Yes, I am alone for today like I have been for the last 30 years or so. It's kind of hard for me being alone as I have remembered, in the past, how nice it used to be with family. And now it's dwindled down to just my sister, only, and she & her family are 3000 miles away.

I have been invited out by my friend to visit with him and his family. I'm not too fond of it. I'm not going. Being with other families is not the same and as nice as being with your own family. Nothing can replace that.

It's funny how, when you read advice about how not to be alone for Christmas, they say to "reach out to others who are alone". That's a great idea but everyone I come in contact with say that they will be with family or friends. And yet there are people who know that I'm alone and they don't bother to reach out to me.

Well, it's early in the morning now and it looks like it might be a nice day. It's sunny outside and the forecast is for some rain. But now it doesn't look like rain, so at least I can enjoy being outdoors.

Will,I am sorry you are missing your family.I do understand how much that hurts.Lots of people go through this,there is no easy solution,as you say it's not as welcoming or comfortable as being with your own people.I hope you do enjoy your walks outdoors.
