I have noticed that I cannot control my emotions, and the little things that others would brush off can set strong and uncontrollable emotions in me. Because of that, I feel others view me (and I view myself that way after I realize that those things were indeed little things) as immature, weak and silly. No matter how often I keep saying to myself I won't allow these things to bother me, and how hard I try to be prepared mentally to anticipate these things to happen in advance, I keep falling to them from time to time.

Hi, good you are reaching out and know what you want to change. Have you tried CBT or DBT? I have seen people make amazing changes employing these techniques.
Maybe you have some other ideas on how to approach this? |

I haven't to be honest. I have no idea how to approach this. This is a huge problem for me. I drive people away vey quickly because of it.

Harassed, no, not as far as I can remember. I doubt maybe this is genetic more than environmental because my father is almost the same.

I too would recommend that you take a look at DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). Major focuses of DBT are emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
