I have been doing quite a bit of self care to help myself lately. And it helps. It’s working to keep me from falling into a depression.

I just lost my father, work is miserable, and I am at my wits end in life, with challenge after challenge being thrown at me.

Today I shopped at a favorite thrift store, got my nails done and am sitting outside in the sun now, overlooking the pretty flowing river and enjoying a frozen margarita.

Yesterday I drove an hour to the beach just to be in its serenity for all of an hour. Last weekend I spent several hours by myself at the beach, enjoying the seagulls, the lapping waves, and the peace.

I am going to make as much time as possible for more self care. It’s healing my soul and spirit.

When suffering, and in general, self care really helps and is so important.

Have Hope sorry for the losses and challenges you face. Glad you are getting self care. That can really help.

Winters are toughest for me so I have indoor activities I can do like yoga and exercises online.

I enjoy the outdoors now but in the northern US summers are short and winters are long.

Thanks @CANDC.

I think it's really healthy to know what you need the most in order to feel better, to feel at peace, to experience joy again, and to feel Ok with oneself within the world when facing challenges, set backs and losses. It's moments like these that I am grateful to be alive - I remember who I am, what I need and what makes me happy. And I embrace those things so I can feel better in my little world.

@CANDC, YES, it can be. I think having a joyful life necessarily entails self care and doing things one loves.

It can be tough to do, at times. But yes, it's so important. And it can remind you of all the reasons life can be such a good thing.

Happy to see you're continuing to move forward, and protecting that lovely soul of yours.

Wishing you peace, and understanding

@MuseumGhost, yes it sure can be tough to do sometimes. Sometimes, I have to force myself.

But yes, agreed..... life CAN be beautiful and amazing. It IS beautiful and amazing, and I like and need to remind myself of this. Many of us here need this reminder.

And thanks so much for your nice words. I greatly appreciate all the kindness you've shown me.

I am very sorry for your loss. I wished that I had thought about doing self care when I lost my parents. This is a very good idea to do. :grouphug: :sadhug:
