I’m sick of working in pharmacy. I’m sick of dealing with the same irritating, self-absorbed people over and over again. I’m sick of my mom constantly complaining and *****ing to me and expecting me to tell her what she wants to hear instead of the truth. I’m sick of constantly being in pain. I’m sick of dealing with nighttime binge eating. I’m sick of living in Denver. I’m sick of hearing about everyone else’s issues. I’m sick of life and all its complications. I’m sick of the heat and the sun. Sorry, I know this is an incredibly whiny post and I hate that I’m whining. But I’m so over it.

Sounds just like me so many years ago. May I make a suggestion? (if not, just totally ignore) Start with what you CAN change. Maybe that can be figuring out, with the help of a doctor, the cause of your pain? Or getting some meds for it? Or maybe, stock up on some healthier foods that you can binge on? Healthy stuff that you like, like fruit? I know the whole point is to not binge but, it'll take time to get there.

As for your mother, how about if you told her, "Complain, but I'm going to tell you the truth at the end. If you don't want to hear that then stop right now."

Just ideas. Maybe it'd be cheaper moving to another city or, change jobs? In any case good luck.

I hear you. I'm in somewhat of a similar boat, so I can relate to an extent. But mostly with my job and my career. I am sick of constantly having crappy jobs that I always want to leave and escape from. I am ok with where I live, but I wish I could afford better.

I am sorry that you find yourself in this position. I agree with the above advice. Try and see what CAN be changed. Some things are within our control, so focus on changing those things for the better.

Agree with what it has been said.
It’s good to have some short-term goals and strategies to get them. Begin with goals to change these things that you can improve with the most probability to success. For example, the relation with your mum. Think about how you are gonna react at these triggering moments. Also consider the other part.
Maybe you don’t have now the strength to achieve these goals but take them into your mind so as soon as you get a little strength, you’ll be ready to do little changes.
Try to see the positive aspects (whichever) all these things you are fed up with.
For example, you don’t like to work at a pharmacy, ask yourself what you could do for yourself to be more comfortable and satisfy with the role you are making there.

If pharmacy is the same to a Chemist’s, consider your important role you make by giving people insight about the products. Think they are there because they are going through a health problem and you can put your grain of sand. I’m very happy with people in my Chemist’s. Sometimes, a friendly smile is a world for any costumer.

Thanks for the constructive feedback everyone, and for tolerating me whining LOL. I have an appointment next week with an orthopedic specialist. I don’t suppose my mom will ever change at this point; the hard part is that I love her, annoying as she is, so it’s not like I want to cut ties with her. As for pharmacy, it is a little like working in a chemist’s, except that I am a technician, not a pharmacist, and I work in a central fill pharmacy, so fortunately I don’t have to be around customers. I have (sort of) reconciled myself to the fact that it would be unwise to change jobs again until I get in a better position to pursue graphic design. It could be worse, I guess.

Can I just say I appreciate what you do? I mean, dang, what a job. You are literally enabling so many people to get the medication they absolutely need to survive (myself included). I wish there were better ways in society to show that we appreciate people. Oftentimes when I go to the pharmacy to pick up my medication, I want to just tell the technician and the pharmacist how much I appreciate them. (There isn't time for that, because there's usually a long line of customers). But if I could shout from the rooftops how much I appreciate anybody who works in that type of job, I would do it gladly. Seriously. I'm not meaning this as like a pep talk or anything. I used to work in tutoring and I had to keep reminding myself that I am helping people ultimately. It helped a little. So maybe a shift in perspective could help you a little bit at least. But it's hard. I know.

Thank you so much for your appreciation— that literally made me light up inside. And yes, it actually did help me get a little perspective. Thank you again!

I fully can feel your frustration with things as they are right now. But this can and will change. You have the power to do that. Sometimes we have to do things we’re not happy with just to get by at that time.
And your not whining. Your expressing your feelings. And I know it’s a total cliché but “ things could be worse “. Bring gratitude into your life.
Best of luck to you .

God , grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change ,
the courage to change the things I can ,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
