I’m terrified of going into work today… it was so bad yesterday. I was slammed with work, and although I did help, I was literally leached of all my energy by the time i left yesterday. I was so exhausted i almost got into a car accident on the way home. I have been trying to pack healthy snacks to curb my binge eating. Yesterday i had packed a part skim string cheese for my snack… yeah, that did absolutely nothing. I was still starving, so I got a two-pack of Reese’s peanut butter cups. That helped more, but i was still really hungry, so when i got home i had half a large supreme oven-bake pizza and then crashed. I don’t want to work in pharmacy anymore. I can’t.

@indigo1015 I hear you. Pharmacy can be a stressful job. I only know from watching the people at the pharmacy I go to.
I also empathize with your constant hunger. I used to have night sweats and constant hunger. I found out about hypoglycemia and how my body over produced insulin when I ate high carb or sugary food. I started taking healthy lunches and snacks that were low in carbs and without sugar and it helped me a lot. I was surprised to find that a lot of my stress was due to low blood sugar, which contrary to what seems an obvious solution, sugary foods and starchy foods only kept the roller coaster of my emotions going up and down. My pharmacy, Rite-aid, has recently started closing from 1:30 to 2 for lunch. Maybe your place can start something similar?
I used to not eat properly when i was working either. It really wasnt a work problem, it was a problem of me not taking good care of myself. I remember being amazed at someone from my first job who would go to a restaurant and have the soup and half a sandwich special for lunch. He was a runner, not a big person, and watched his weight. Still i couldnt understand his not overfilling his belly. I was always starving. |

The whole concept of lunch at work is an ongoing problem. I have to eat my lunch so fast that I often do not remember if I ate and what I ate. I continue extreme fast eating at home out of habit. That’s how I overeat. Don’t even know if I ate and what it was. |

Yes, all retail pharmacies close for lunch. I do not work in a retail pharmacy— I work in a closed-door pharmacy in which we supply rxs to facilities and clinics. Different setting. I have been very good about bringing my lunch to work. Admittedly, I used to skip lunch. I don’t do that anymore. Still very hungry though. I usually bring a Greek salad from home that i make with shredded chicken, spinach, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, olives, and low-fat feta. I’m getting sick of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Also, I really feel the need to point out to everyone that, which the advice is appreciated, I really make a point to try and eat as healthy as i can. Obviously, yesterday was an exception to the rule. Sorry.

![]() My go to work snack is some unsalted nuts (almonds or pistachios) and oatcakes, it seems to fill a gap for me and I don’t have to prepare it other than pop it in a box. I literally have the same snack every day but it does work for me. Protein of some sorts seems a good idea. I had to ban myself from Reeses peanut anything- it’s got some kind of an addictive effect on me! |

You know what I noticed is that if I eat hot lunch at work, even like a can soup or warmed up left overs or what not I feel more full than if I eat salad. Something about warm food keeps me full longer, in my mind |

Instead of a Reese's (or whatever candy / quick snack), I HIGHLY recommend Kind bars. They come in a variety of sizes and flavors. They're not the cheapest thing in the world but they're not overly expensive, either. They taste great, satisfy (you actually feel like you ate something), and they are loaded with protein.

I hope today was better for you.
Kudos to you for working in a retail pharmacy, and to anyone else here who does. I honestly don't think I could do that. Between the fast pace, the sometimes-cranky customers, and the nightmare of insurance red tape, that has got to be one of the most stressful jobs out there. I admire you for being able to handle it. |

I tried those and i didn’t like them. The flavoring tasted weird and the texture was gross. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you but this job is not in a retail pharmacy. I have worked in retail pharmacies in the past, but this job is in a closed door pharmacy. And I’m done with it… with pharmacy in general. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I called out today— just the thought of going in was giving me a massive headache. I can’t.
