Eight weeks ago I broke my leg and I had to get a cast.
![]() Along with that I had to drop out of a school program i was in because of the immobility from the cast. I have been pretty much home bound and living alone and with the injury, forced to do very little. I have ended up sleeping a lot during the daytime, not being able to exercise or do much of anything. I have gained eight pounds which I am frantic about because of non-activity, but I wonder if the sleeping is because of boredom or my depression is back or both...I am afraid it is the depression which was caused by the boredom. Any feedback is welcome. Slick ![]() |

![]() ![]() It is kind of normal to go through a period of depression after an illness, life-change or traumatic event. I think you might have hit the nail on the head in that you were forced to do nothing after breaking a leg and being isolated. I am glad you joined the forums here as you will be able to share with others that understand.

I know that sleeping more is a sign of depression, how about you try a new hobby while you are house bound? You could take up knitting or sewing as it will get you doing something and creating targets? I hope you get better soon

Yeah...could be, Slick399...are you an athlete?....if so, try to do other tasks which will help to keep that endorphin rush going.....because that WILL help and sustain you throughout....Maybe pullups in the doorway? or just any activity....at this point will help you...Even punching the keys here at PC......WE are pretty good coaches...as probably you have seen.....but mostly 'in your ear' stuff
![]() ![]() Try to keep from boredom......yes...

thanks, yutzman. I think I will try some push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups in the doorway. Great suggestion and maybe some weights.
