I applied for a job, had an interview, and was told that they would call back successfull applications. I received no phone. I feel horrible and like no one will ever hire me.

I'm sorry for your disappointment. Here's hoping you'll be hired, hired soon, and hired by the right people.

I'm sorry you are feeling rejected and disappointed right now, (((Zen))) - I know what that's like. But please don't be discouraged - try to look at it as it's their loss, not yours. You know what kind of employee you would be and the quality of your work - they had their chance and missed out - and that means you are still available to be hired by an employer who will appreciate the value you add to their organization. Don't sell yourself short.

I'm so sorry you didn't get a call back. Could you follow up with them? Do you have a contact number? I called about yesterday I called about my interview results and the person told me it could take them up to three months for them to get back to me if they were interested. (after being told a week for reference check when I was at the interview.) So you might want to check with them if you can. I know it is really hard to find a job, especially right now. Good luck and you never know when you will get a call. Keep applying.
Thanks for this!

It would have been nice getting a phone either way, at least you would have had closure. I am sorry they didn't call you. I understand how lousy this has made you feel. (((Zen)))

That's too bad, Zen. Don't let it give the depression any fuel, though. They took you seriously enough to interview you. That's something. Since everyone else have said such wonderful things, I will let them stand as such and hope that hugs will speak for themselves
Thanks for this!

The interview was so brief and to the point I wasn't given any opportunity to express myself and to show what I can do. It was a boring interview. I am use to longer interviews. This one was more like 5-7 minutes max.

Thank-you all for your words of encouragement and support!

It's understandable how deflating this must of felt to you...
As the others have pointed out, it is no reflection on you. The job market is very tough right now...

Most employers are deluged with applicants for a limited number of jobs. Interviews are going to be short and not like we are used to...

It is a good idea to follow up. A quick phone call...and if you find out you were not selected, ask why. I know that sounds strange, but most interviewers will be honest and tell you...if there was something else you could/should have done, then you will know how to handle your next interview.
It also makes an impression on them that you cared enough to call...
Another thing that helps is writing a short note of thanks to the interviewer; something acknowledging the opportunity to talk with them about your abilities be an asset to their company. Many people don't do this; but it can indicate your sincere interest in the job.
Again, it will make a good impression.
Many HR people keep in touch with each other; candidates that were not selected but left a good impression are sometimes passed on to the others as possibilities for a position open in their companies.

In Peace

I agree with Googley. Call them! Let them know how eager and qualified for this job you are. Sometimes that helps. Ever here of the squeaky wheel theroy?

Zen,
Go For It!
Ya never know...
"Fear is temporary, regret is forever."

You are being creative now, Zen, and that is wonderful...way to go! You'll learn as you go...and everything will come together for you.
It is so hard to keep at it and not feel rejected/dejected, but please try and remember it is not a reflection on you.
Yeah, follow up calls and thank you notes make you stand out; it will pay off for you.

In Peace
