I am going though a major bout of depression, and it's affecting my work and personal life. I feel like I have lost control of my emotions - I really have very little to be depressed about. I am trying to seek therapy, but I am unrealistically hoping for a quick fix. I also feel guilty because I knew I had a problem for years, and I never sought help. Now I'm paying for that decision. Would love to have people to talk to.

Depression is insidious, isn't it. Even if sometimes it can latch on to stressful life events to take root in us, it can find its way in without any traumatic handholds. You're in the right place. Initially, how are you dealing with the episode right now? You are seeking therapy; are you seeking any other type of treatment? YES YOU DO have things to be depressed about. I hope you will figure out exactly what they are very soon. Then you can address those problems once they have risen to the surface.
