Hello, I just found this site. I am going through a real rough patch right now. I getting a divorce, but still living with my soon-to-be ex. We have financial issues and he is consistenly at me about money (and he makes over $1000 more than me a month). I am in another relationship but he lives 1200 miles away and its incredibly difficult to be going through this without his presence. I also have two kids. They know about the divorce but are truly unaware of any change considering we are still living together. As of right now I plan to remove the kids from the state I'm living in currently and move to where my boyfriend is at the end of the school year. My ex has agreed to this and we plan to do an academic/holiday and vacation split. My kids don't know about the move yet and I am truly struggling with the idea. This would be a 2nd major move for them in just 2 years. My ex think he the father of the year, but in reality he is truly no help at all. He's hardly ever home and when he is he basically goes into his bedroom and stays there. He never helps with homework or is there for the kids in any way except to buy them whatever they want.
One minute I feel ok and the next minute I'm a puddle on the ground. I cant seem to control my sadness any longer. I have small anxiety attacks (I've had these before) and I don't sleep well. Anyway, I am looking for support for the depression I'm in which I believe may be situational. I was wondering if anyone is on natural/herbal medication. I have been on medication before and have nothing against it, but once this divorce does go through I will be off of inusrance and would rather not start anything from a doctor just to have to stop it again. Anyway, thats the short of the long. Thanks for reading. Meredith |

Hello, Meredith. If the medication helps, why not use it to help you through this situation? Your doctor may even give you samples if the insurance does not cover meds. Also, you may want to check now to see what assistance may be available in the state you are moving to. There may be a program that allows you to get help for a reduced rate or free.
I also wonder about the terms of the divorce. Your husband has the ability to pay child support, at the very least. It seems you may benefit from talking to a lawyer. Good luck. |

Hi Meredith! Glad to meet you! Hmm. Herbal remedies. All I know is that they work for some people, but really check them up first, both pros and cons. The ones that work can have some side effects and combined effects with other things that can be dangerous. Always remember, natural or not, the should be treated as medicines and let your docotr know exactly what and how much you take when he has to assign you other meds for some reason. I know that when I was on one of the anti psychotic (for mania control) I had to avoid some of the herbal teas because they could magnify the effects that could give one extrapyramidal symptoms (involuntary muscle spasms, chewing movements, restlessness in the legs, etc.) Ginko bilboa was one, I think. Anyhoo, good luck checking them out and Huggs for you during this difficult time. Divorce is really no fun

Hi.
Sorry you're going through such a tough time. Just thought I'd let you know about Rescue Remedy. I get anxiety attacks and I take this, a couple of sprays and I feel like I can cope, although I don't think it would help long term. The are alot of anti anxiety/antidepressant herbal meds on the market, but as Lonegael said, its really a case of trial and error. Good luck and hang in there. ![]() |
