Can someone please wish me happy birthday? I never get any phone calls, cards, or surprises, and year after year I am in the same loneliness on my birthday. I just want to feel like I matter. That's all.

Happy Birthday! I hope you do feel special today! Although, as I get older, my birthday is something I don't like to celebrate! Do you have any family, and if you do, they seem very self-centered. How much effort does it take to pick up the phone and wish you a happy birthday? I have 7 siblings. I usually try to call them on their birthdays, at least the ones that I can. Some are too busy, and don't answer their phone. My sisters that I do talk to, we usually try to call eachother on our birthdays. Sometimes it will take a day or two, but it feels good just to acknowledge that we thought about eachother. Everyone matters.

Next year, why not plan to invite other in for lunch or dinner and surround yourself with those you love to be with. A gift to yourself. You could even do this when it isn't your birthday. Because, you are special every single day.

Happy Birthday plus one day. Good on you for letting PC know so that we could shower you with best wishes.
I also want to second ECHOES idea. I have a friend who every year plans her own birthday party. She even orders her own cake so she gets just what she wants. She invites everyone she knows to share it with her. All day long people drop in to bring her birthday cheer. They aren't necessarily people she knows well but might be someone she ran into while out walking her dogs. She knows that if she leaves it to her husband that the day would come and go with little if any acknowledgement. She makes her own party and I think she is brilliant! |
