I wish I knew, because I have none.
I am sleeping like 18 hours a day simply because I have no motivation to get out of bed.
I can easily go to bed at 10pm and not get up again until 4pm the next day.
Ugh... this sucks! I am sleeping away my life, but sometimes I feel like that is easier to do than getting outta bed.

Well... I failed.
I gave into my mind's desire to get back in bed.
I just slept for another 2 and a half hours.

Set a goal for yourself. Something simple that you can accomplish. Perhaps you might decide to get up at a specified time to read the paper, or take the trash out, or vacuum a floor. Then, if you must, your reward could be a nap.

The idea is to alter what is not working, employing easy steps you can succeed at. Hopefully, the doing will lead to more doing so you do not feel you have to hide the day away in bed.

Good luck.

I am sorry you are having such a hard time. The snowball affect from this can take long periods of time from my life. Exercise worked well for me. But sometimes I take long periods of time off. The exertion gets the heart rate up and counter some of the physical effects being lethargic can cause. I am glad you are still reaching out. It's good to hear from you. Stay in touch and be good to yourself.

I can relate on some level. Sometimes even though I'm starving or really should do some work I can act like a child (not that I'm calling you a child at all) and just do my best to stay in bed as long as possible. I do love sleeping and dreaming at a lot. A tactic I use is look at my wrist watch and say, I will get up at say quarter to the hour. Then I constantly look at my watch seeing how much time I left. That can give you the momentum to get up when you reach the set time. Also listening to the radio sometimes helps. Sometimes I do both. But I do love sleeping Hope that helps

Just try setting an alarm for yourself, and try sticking to it. I do that, and although I slip sometimes, I more or less stick to it. You kind of have to leap out of bed, as soon as the alarm goes off. Being in bed, is kind of an escape from reality (as well as sleeping, of course), and although it offers safety and security, you have to almost give yourself a mental slap around the face, and get up.

Maybe you can substitute some computer "work" or reading or something for so much sleeping. The more one is up and around the more opportunities there are for something interesting to attract one's attention I think.

Gosh I wish there were some way of transferring sleep from one person to another...

Were it not for the cost, I'd love to see you get a thorough set of sleep studies completed. It might be informative to see just exactly what kinds of sleep you are experiencing during those +/- 18 hours. How much of that sleep is genuinely refreshing?

hey there Manda =)

Everyone's already given you great ideas, all I want to add is a question. I guess for me the more I have a schedule in my life the easier it is to get up for that schedule - but I can't have that schedule unless I'm well enough.... kind of a catch 22.

Sometimes it would help me if I'd take myself out for coffee in the morning (simply because I love the taste). Is there anywhere you can drag yourself to when you wake up that you enjoy? Coffee shop, book store, chocolate store, park, anything at all? Or is there something you like to be pampered with - a hot shower or bath, etc?
Something to look forward to in your day that will get you out of bed =)
