Oh, what a relief, in a way. Poor, poor cat! And poor you! At least she is a well loved critter. If she has to be sick, then you are the folks for her to have!

I'm a big cat lover. They are like my kids! I'm so sorry you had to go through that. But I'm glad it worked out for you. I was not so lucky...

Our cats are members of our family. Tiger and Alex knew what Tuffy was going through, and either gave her affection or gave her space, depending on what she needed. And they didn't complain about not getting enough attention, while Tuffy needed more. What good cats they all are. Tuffy's meds seem to be working, and she's even got some of her sight back. My research said sudden blindness is often a sign of feline hypertension. I can't believe it took three vets to figure out it was high blood pressure, but we're taking our cats to that third one from now on. |

I'm so glad to hear Tuffie's illness is treatable. They are our furry babies aren't they.

Tuffy is just about back to her old self now, after a few weeks on hypertension meds. There's nothing she can't do--including see. Her meow is strong, she climbs on furniture, she wakes us up at her breakfast time. Her purr had sounded strange, but cats have a special set of vocal cords for purring, and we think one of the cords was partially paralyzed after her latest stroke. She has that function back now. She resists her meds, but really who doesn't? Yet she does cooperate; I think she knows it's helping her. We dilute her tablets in 1/4 teaspoon of water, in a syringe, and squirt it down the back of her throat.
She's a little hard of hearing, but we think it comes with age. We're waiting for clearance from the vet before we let her outside. Dull hearing could be a problem for her--but yesterday, she did so want to go out. We're just glad to have her. I'm glad too that hubby didn't follow my advice and have her put down. |
