I hate it when I become irritable when I get depressed. It is worse than just being depressed by itself. It makes me want to scream and bite people's head's off (whomever is closest at that point in time.) I just want to complain about everything and not do anything and yell at someone. Every little thing gets on my nerves. I feel like my nerves are on fire. I'm exhausted, but I can't sleep. Then I can't get up in the morning. If I try to go to sleep earlier I wake up in the middle of the night and am up for a couple of hours. It's like I can't win.

Does anyone else get really irritable when they get depressed? I feel so alone right now. And then doing trauma work in t makes me feel yucky. I hate feeling this way. I just want someone to hold me and tell me that I don't have to worry about anything and everything is going to be okay.

Oh I remember this feeling very well. My irritability levels would soar and I would become impossible to live with. This unexplained anger would rupture out of nowhere and those closest to me caught the brunt of it.

I have been through what you describe and I am so sorry you are having to deal with it now. It is not easy and I can't even give you words of encouragement except to hang in there and try to be kind to yourself.

Oh googley, sending hugs your way! (if you'd like them)
I can relate to irritability coming with depression, and the frustration that comes with it. All I can say is, hang in there! Personally, whenever I start to feel this way, I try to do something that involves me being ALONE, so I won't be rude to anyone and regret it afterwards. (ie, listen to music, take a bath, take a walk, etc.)
Remember though that these feelings of irritability DO pass, so if you keep holding on, you can beat them. :]
Thanks for this!

As is typical of my dilemma, I never am irritable, unless I am.
Thanks for this!

Thank you all for your replies and support. I am lucky in some ways that I live alone and so there is not anyone around for me to bite into. But at the same time, it could help to have someone I trusted to talk to. But that is why i have all of you here. And you are all so wonderful.

*triple hug*

Speaking of irritability... lol. I seem to be taking turns with bouts of pissed-offedness and soupy-headed sadness. You're not alone!
