Odd little side effects I am noticing with Abilify - do you?

I just started taking Abilify last week - very small dosage (5mg).

· Within hours of the first pill I developed a sore throat - which is listed as a side effect - it got very bad (raw) but now trending towards wellness

· Within 24 hours I developed a stiff back - real stiff - almost too sore to stand erect - I have taken hot baths, heating pad etc. .....it just keeps getting worse. My wrists, knees and shoulders are also very stiff and achy.

· Within 48 hours I lost my sense of taste except for SWEET. Sweet things taste normal - everything else literally tastes flat, bland, nothing - not even TABASCO tickles my tongue. I literally poured salt into some broth and still NOTHING.

NOW the GOOOOOOOOOOOD News!!!!!!!! My mood is so much better - so much better. Things that would normally spin me out of control - I just let them ROLLLLLLLLL. I am so hoping all these symptoms are purely coincidence for allergies, weather change or something else.

I didn't have any of that, but the sore and stiff muscles and back and the loss of taste are big red flags. Sometimes the side effects are irreversible if you have them for too long, even if later you go off the abilify. Like tardive dyskinesia. Really nasty. Please tell your pdoc ASAP. Best wishes

I was taking Abilify (3mg) as a conjunctive treatment to my Lexapro. I didn't notice any side effects or help with my mood.

Hope you continue to feel better. I know that these on-set side effects generally disipate after a few weeks.

Abilify gave me stroke-like symptoms; to wit, inability to speak, unable to walk, and Blindness!! Watch those side effects carefully. I won't say what I really think of that drug because I'd be open to a lawsuit.

LMAO. That's exactly how I feel about a lot of meds.

My real purpose for posting though is that Abilify was not the drug for me. I don't know anyone that it's truly helped, but everyone responds differently. I think it's great that it's helping you to feel better, but pay attention to the side effects. Call your doctor or even your pharmacist if you're unsure about anything. The only medicine that has ever severely altered my taste buds was Topamax.

I've never taken Abilify, but it sounds like it is working well for you.
