Hi. This is my first post here. Mostly I would just like someone to talk to. Recently a lot of stuff in my life has started to go downhill, and I've never been that great at dealing with stress (or life in general, really). Sometimes I feel like my reasons for being depressed aren't really valid. They're things that most people face every day...I just can't handle them. When I DO try to deal with my problems it seems like I go about it all wrong...cutting, drinking, pills, etc. It's not like I do these harmful things constantly, but I feel horrible about doing them at all.

When I woke up today I felt...awful. I've been crying so much. I haven't eaten. I called some of my friends, but no one is answering their phones. I haven't really had a chance to get things off of my chest, or out of my system yet, and it's wearing me down. I feel so alone right now. If there is anyone that would like to talk, I'm on AIM a lot, and my SN is in my profile.

Hi Sasa, and welcome.

I bet a good place to start would be with your family physician. And then he would lead you in the right direction, if he can't help you with your problem.
Those family p's usually have good contact references!

Oh, and I just want to say thanks to everyone for saying hi. Sometimes it's just nice to hear a friendly voice (or read some friendly type) I need someone to talk to....

My meds WERE helping, but lately it's been rough. It's not nearly as hard as it was before I was on the meds, but it's still really hard.

Hi again, Sasa,
I take Paxil...My doc screwed with it last summer, and I have been thru all sorts of ups and downs since then, major anxiety and depression. He upped last Aug to the original dosage...didn't help. Now I am up to 40 mg. daily. It seems to be working, somewhat. This med should not be tampered with in my opinion, if one feels balanced and happy, as I did last summer. Once reduced, then trying to go back on original dosage didn't work for me.
I hope the meds help you.

I can completely understand the whole psych major thing. You can end up thinking how can I possibly be healthy enough to help other people when I can't even help myself. I've personally adopted the theory that learning the academic material, and spending my own time in therapy is the best possible thing for me. They tend to recommend that psychologists see someone themselves, if for no other reason than to determine what areas might trigger them or cause there own biases to appear. We're just doing it early. About going to therapy, I'm not sure how much misery is too much to handle by yourself and with friend, I probably take it to far, and would have done far better seeking help earlier. However it's your own choice and we will support you whatever you do. Hope you feel better, and feel free to PM me at anytime.
