Can't get to sleep - tears keep coming for over an hour.

Given up on people. Given up on my plans for the future. Have no plans for the future. Have no hopes and dreams.

so much shattered.

Sorry haven't been here as much, access is so limited right now.

Need help, dunno where to turn

Yes, you are in an exceptionally distressing place right now, ((( Turquoisesea ))).

Please keep posting. Maybe we can help you rearrange your scattered, shattered thoughts to help you get your mind around your situation.

Still pretty low but I wanted to say thank you to this entire community. It made a huge difference that I could come here last night in tears, and go to bed knowing that you would care and be there for me in the morning.

Still struggling

Don't know where to start right now.

Am trying to schedule T appt but that will be over a week. Not sure how to pull myself up - some direction for that will help

What helps me when I'm feeling low and lost and in particular panicked about the future (which is often!) is to just let myself BE. Just stay in the moment and find something that I enjoy doing. Don't let myself THINK about "omg what am I going to do?", just think of now, this moment. I've started reading again lately and it's like... an escape. I go into this other world, live somebody else's life. It gives me energy and inspires me too, sometimes.
It's good to think of a future, but when you don't feel like there IS one right now I find distraction works. Negative thoughts can be a constant chatter, just shutting it off for a little while could help.
Oh, I've also started to watch tv more in the evenings -there are now a few series that I follow and it gives me something to look forward to each night.

It's good that you have a T session coming up, just hang on in there, keep coming to psych central if you can and sharing with us. It somehow helps me to read through other people's problems.

x

When I am depressed like this I make sure i'm eating and sleeping properly. I hope you do this too Turquoise. Take care of yourself.

Hi turquoisesea,

I'm so sorry to hear you are feeling so low right now. I have been there and do know just how you feel. Are you taking any meds right now? Something like xanax might be helpful (?) if you are feeling especially anxious and can't sleep.
I get caught up in this spiral where I feel so hopeless, that nothing is going to work out (ever) and that I'll just never have the energy or feel any better. Hang in there, turquoisesea, try to keep in mind that this is the depression talking... I think Lisa Michelle has a good point about trying to just focus on the moment to do something soothing whenever you can (at least until therapy again). Is there an old TV show you could watch online or a movie you like for some distraction? Also, is there any other way you can contact your T, by e-mail, or written letter? Often during a tough spell I just leave a long rambling message on my T's machine, which makes me feel somehow better just to know that she knows what I am going through... My best wishes for you to feel better.
Thanks for this!
