Is generic Wellbutrin (bupropion) as effective as brand? Are any companies making generic better than others?
Thanks, Caramel |

Hi Caramel =)
I'm not a doctor. I've gotten mixed reviews about generics. Most doctors/nurses I've talked to say generics are fine. My older friend, who does NOT have a degree in medicine is convinced the generics are not always. Specifically in related to birth control (this was a really random conversation we were having) she had personally had trouble with the generic causing hormonal weirdness, and with some other medicines too. She is of the opinion that some people are more sensitive than others. I'm not sure about Wellbutrin, but talk to your doctor. It's probably fine, and generally accepted. I hope some more knowledgeable people are able to answer this post =)

Definitely talk with your physician. I took brand generic Wellbutrin for years and switched to generic, seeing no change. Later was changed to Wellbutrin XL brand came and was later changed to generic when it became available, Buproprion HCL XL. I experienced no difference again with no side effects except in my pocket book.

as far as I know generics are just as fine as the brand names, the only difference being that you pay more for the brand names.
