I hate the idea of having labels but is what I am feeling depression? I tend to get spells where I just do not want to get out of bed. I am unable to focus on everyday tasks. I write from home and I used to love it now I dread the thought of it, which sucks because me working is what keeps my husband from needing a second job. I have two little ones ages 1 and 3 years old, i find myself getting mad at them for little things often to the point t where i have to leave the room.

What you describe could very well be depression. However, to be sure, perhaps a psych evaluation would be beneficial. It would pinpoint the areas of yourself that needed to be worked on. For example, depression, or maybe bipolar. Do you have a psychiatrist that could do an evaluation with you?

Hi there and
![]() I know "I don't know" isn't the answer you want to hear. Yes those symptoms sound like a depression. But a diagnosis is a very personal thing, and there has to be a lot of history taken, and details. Regardless, you're welcome here, and can talk things out. Maybe you can find out more about what's going on over there. Do you have insurance? Could you go to your primary doctor and explain some of your symptoms? You should get some blood tests for thyroid levels, vitamin deficiencys, etc. Also kids can be a real strain, is there any way you can take a day off here and there from them? This could help you cope a bit better, though I know it's hard to do.

Hello ((((celeste))))
You do sound depressed. But it's best that a doctor diagnose you rather than us just tell you that you sound depressed. If you go to a doctor he can offer you medication or you may wish to try the herbal treatments that are available. If you haven't had medication before now and your Dr thinks treatment is in order then maybe the herbal way is a good option? But in your assessment there are many things to be considered so rather than just saying "I think I'm depressed" you would be much better to see the Dr. I agree with what turquoisesea and melissa.recovering have said. I wish you luck with your diagnosis, because once you have it that is when your treatment can begin and hopefully treat you successfully, Rhiannon

Hi celestew84,
I agree with the others who have posted that a psychiatric evaluation may be helpful. I identify with the symptoms of not wanting to get out of bed, not being able to focus, not wanting to do things I have loved in the past, and more irritability as symptoms of depression for me. I hope you will find some relief of your symptoms soon! Sincerely, Caramel

I think it sounds like you are burned out and over-whelmed. :/
Also, it's obviously causing you distress, so talking to a therapist about it couldn't hurt. It may help to improve your life and make it more manageable.

In depression . . . faith in deliverance, in ultimate restoration, is absent. The pain is unrelenting, and what makes the condition intolerable is the...feeling felt as truth...that no remedy will come -- not in a day, an hour, a month, or a minute. . . . It is hopelessness even more than pain that crushes the soul.-William Styron |
