It's frustrating that something you enjoy, autumn, corresponds with something threatening, the onrushing holidays. What specifically do you enjoy about fall?

((Naturefreak)) - to be honest I also don't like Christmas either. It's a very long story and there are several reasons why, but I don't want to bore anyone with the long story. I find I get down and overwhelmed at this time of year but the problem is, my girls love Christmas and I don't want to ruin it for them. So I do my best to make it enjoyable and take pleasure in seeing them happy

When they're older I would like to, one time go on vacation and not do a thing...pretend it's any other time of year. I wonder if that would work for you. Many people don't celebrate Christmas since they're not Christian.

The other option would be for you to reframe the holidays....make it your own. In the past, was Xmas a good time of year for you? A person could even plan to work at a homeless shelter or some other charity and make someone else's Xmas nice.

It would be great if you could figure out some way to avoid this yearly pattern, where you associate fall with the coming holidays. How does sitting on a warm beach at Xmas sound?

I understand exactly how you feel & will give you huge Hugs:
(((((NatureFreak)))))

Lucky, that fall feeling in the air hasn't hit here in KY yet. For me, it hit 5 years ago when I went through all the trauma with the home care person for my mother who was dying of cancer. On top of that, my new foal that had been born the end of September cut her leg, so I was nursing that cut 2 times a day while driving 1 hour to try & make sure my Mother was & the stress was causing me to feel so sick, I was loosing weight so quickly. Ugh, the flashbacks are horrible & it only happens with the fall feeling in the air.

I decided to volunteer for the World Equestrian games in September/October in hopes that volunteering for that would help keep my mind so busy there wouldn't be room for flashbacks. Then I found out that they assigned me to the decoration crew for all the planting & flower arrangements for each event which was even better than I could have ever hoped for . Praying that this will give me at least a few months of break this year. Psychologist thought it was a good idea when I told her about it.

I am sorry that you are feeling overwhelmed and so lonely. I do understand. I know that by knowing you are not alone, you may feel some comfort. Try to be kind to yourself.

Hon, I'm sorry i missed this. I love fall also, but I'm not really inlove with the stress that starts piling up, regardless of holidays. That and though I love the holidays, I am very tired of my in laws constantly barging in with their drama and "Me! Me! Me!" attitudes just when I have been dearly looking forward to a quiet celebration with just my hubby and kids. I hear them start talking about inviting themselves to Christmas, and I start feeling nauseated.

Hang in there, Chris. We are here, if a bit irregularly. I hadn't seen you about and was getting woried actually. All the HUGGS you can take, friend.
Thanks for this!
