Well, I did it. I got the hell out of Edmonton. I am now away, with no plans and no idea what to do, and am freaked out of my mind. Just to add to this, my roomate is gay... great. But thats not why I am running.

way to go for doing something to change the status quo!!! do you have a job or some prospects?
i love moving--it's like i have an opportunity to "recreate" myself. i know i bring all my issues with me wherever i go, but at least if i'm not around people who've known me for a while i feel like i can try being a little different. anyway, i just wanted to give you some kudos for doing something different. |

Hey!
You know sometimes a change is good. You get a chance to start all over. Of course it will come with it's own challenges and it won't always be easy. I wish I could give you some of my experience. I ran away, moved, avoided my problems and life in general when I was your age. I wanted everything to just be alright but it never was. Until I sat down and really thought about what I wanted my life to be like and started taking care of the problems and issues I had nothing really changed for me. No matter where I went I always ended up in the same place. Tired, alone, struggling and confused. I finally realized I couldn't figure it all out on my own. There were issues in my life I wasn't able to figure out on my own. I had to ask for some help. Someone to sit down and ask me the hard questions and help me to figure out the answers. It was then and only then, when I had dealt with my feelings and my life that I was able to really open myself up and make a difference. Make a good choice for myself. I still made and make mistakes. Life can still be really really hard but I am better able to deal with things because I made a foundation for myself. Not a home, not a family, not friends but a foundation within myself. I know who I am. Who I can be. I know what I can and cannot achieve. I know when I am giving too much and when I am not giving enough. No matter what happens in my life. No matter what people say or how they treat me I can move on because no one can take away me, my dreams, my hopes or my beliefs. You will grow alot over the next few years. You will experience alot and it will change you. The most important thing, no matter what life or people throw at you is to not become bitter or angry. Don't close off your heart or your mind. I don't know if any of this helps. You will find your way, it will take some time but you will and asking for some guidance along the way can be very helpful. Hugs Heidu The highest reward for a person's toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it. John Ruskin

Hey Foolish:
I was thinking about you on 10/5, hoping you were okay. Glad you made it to your secret spot. No need to freak - consider it an adventure. But maybe you want to think of it not as running, but as starting a new life for yourself. You are a smart guy and you are in control of what you do with yourself. Just focus on making good decisions. I do worry about you, but I think that if you want to succeed, then you will, because you're capable of it. Thanks for checking in, LMo We are ALL going to be a-ok!

So, how is it going now? I think everyone is right who said to look at this as an opportunity and chance to start a new life. I hope you make the best of it.
I think of you all the time, but have to respect your need for space and to make your own decisions. We're here whenever you want to talk about it. Wendy <font color=red>"Striving for excellence motivates you; striving for perfection is demoralizing." -Harriet Braiker</font color=red>
