This is really bothering me.......

For the last 3 weeks or so I have had the following series of events over and over.

I feel really low, desp want to harm self or sui, have to work really hard to keep safe.

Then abruptly I am OK.

Eg yesterday I felt soooo bad, felt really worried for my safety, I took my boy to school and then went back to bed until 2pm cos I felt really unsafe, over powering voice in my head saying "do it". I got up, still felt dodgy so went to my neighbours house until pick up time for my son, just to keep safe.

Today I woke up, got up, been fine all day, no such thoughts, been quite productive.

My dx is depression.

What the hell is going on?

Can anyone suggest why this is happening?

It is really bothering me and confusing me.

I'd go back to my pdoc and discuss your symptoms. You could be suffering from bipolar II, rapid cycling (I'm not a professional, so please don't quote me), but that's what I am like and I am BP II. I can go from high to low and back to high in a matter of hours.
And if your dx is depression, you're probably only on an anti-dep (Correct me if I'm wrong) which would cause a BP patient to be pushed into mania, or hypomania, which could be what you are experiencing when you feel ok.

A lot of people that are dx'd bipolar, are first dx'd with depression.

I'm glad to hear you are having a good day today.
I would definitely suggest talking to your p-doc about your symptoms though.

get bloodwork done... depression isn't abrupt... but all manner of hormone influences can produce the "crazies" - be persistent.

peace

Might be blood sugar also. My sister in law (my borther's sister) used to have times like that with rapid shifts. It turned out she was hypoglycemic. It would not be wrong to get some blood work done as is sugggested, but I would definitely get in touch with a docotr and explain what has been happening. Huggs

I feel the same, its a continuous cycle of waking up in the morning and the majority of the time I feel fairly hopefull and confident. By mid-afternoon I start to get really angry for no good reason usually. By evening I am a bit more restless and much much more unhappy and resentful of myself, and by late night I am a complete mess. Thinking the same dangerous thoughts you mentioned and I have to really focus on not making an irrational decision. THen I just have to wake up the next day and start all over again....so exhausting!

Hi there

Very sorry to hear you have had a bad time. Severe mood dysregulation can be due to all sorts of things including those already mentioned. It can also be be part of borderline personality. Also of course could be simply having a bad day, and we all get those.

Glad things are looking better.
