I'm a college student and have had major depression for quite a while now. Though it has only resurfaced recently. I has effected my classes and i am terrified i will fail them because of lack of attendance. I feel like crying all the time but instead i just sleep to escape the reality of things. But I have now decided whether i want to or not i must pull my self together. my doctor says that before i return to class i need to send an email telling my professors what has been going on, i am a very emotionally restrained person and it is very hard for me to open myself up to people who i am not close to, and every time i try to tell them i end up crying or getting frustrated with myself because it explains nothing. any suggestion on how to tell them without revealing too much or too little of myself ?

My illness hit me, too, smack in the middle of college..I began skipping classes too..I had paranormal things happen to me, it was scary..I was at Michigan State at the time I still miss it to this day..I came home and went to college at home and eventually graduated..but, oh so young you must be, you have the world ahead of you it's all a twinkle in your eye now, all of it ahead of you..what you say to your professors is there's been a medical emergency or medical problems no need for clarification..that's what we told mine and they gave me extra time to make up work..do you have a support system? Friends there? Family? What are you studying?I care so much for you, post more detail about your illness and get it all out...

College is one tough nut to crack, (nodding. Rather than tell each of your professors, I would rather you try to discuss the issue with one of your counselors at the college... they know what accomodations are available for you.. especially since your doctor will verify the depression. Hang in there!

If it were me i would talk to each teacher one on one. If it gets to hard or frustrating send them a email or write it down and give it to them. If u find its hard to do it yourself maybe asking the school counsiler as sky said and go from there.
a little story. I have recently been diagnosed bipolar one. well i had a psych appt at 11:30 and class starts at 12:00 its only suppost to be a 30 minnute session. Well 30 minnutes went into 1 hour. I emailed my psych teacher (the class i have at 12. ironically) that i will be a little late due to a doc appt. well i entered class at 12:30. After class i went up to the teacher and asked if she got my email and that i was so sorry for being 30 minnutes late. I told her that it took so long cause they diagnosed me witb bipolar and i had to wait for the medication. She was very understanding. And since we get 10 pts for being in class that she will give me 5 for notifing her before hand that i was going to be late. Well not so little of a story huh? Well i wish u well on informing ur professors. And hope my little story helps a little. or at least makes u think.

I get paranormal experiences whenever I am in an intense relationship...it is scary....people around me start saying whatever goes through my head out loud, very loud, and my secrets get exposed..they put me in the mental hospital when this happened because they didn't believe me but it truly happened..
