dark

i don't like the dark it is scary. i am all on my own in the dark and nobody can hear me. I can't see anything and i can't hear anything. I can't feel anything. It is just dark all round me. Please don't leave me here for ever.

Hey Alice it's Vicki--I'll grab your hand and you can come with me. deedee is real scared of the dark too. that's when she comes out and cuddles her blanket. I don't think big C will let you stay in the dark.

Thank you iris. I just sent you all a pm. We hope alice will be ok but she can't figure out why the dark is so scary for her. I will look after her today.

thank you for helping alice. Do you know why deedee is scared of the dark? We can't work out why it is that alice is so scared even though we have tried. We thought a lot about it last night but we couldn't remember. Something happened to her I think.

thank you shadow but elsie isn't allowed candles she is too little. It wasn't the real dark either - she just got really scared. I want to help her figure out why she is so scared of being stuck alone in the dark for ever and then maybe we can help her not to be so scared. But she is so scared of this dark that she finds it really really hard to talk about. If you have any ideas about how we can help her would you let us know?

deedee is afraid of the dark cause she has bad dreams at night. I think little kids are afraid of the dark anyway. We lived in the city and sometimes there were gun fights at the bar across the alley at night. The Mother and father would come upstairs into the bedroom and make her and sister get under the bed.
One time she got punished and had to go in the corner. Mother's favorite punishment was to kneel on rice. Anyway, one time, she forgot deedee was in the corner and turned the light out in the dining room and left.
Just about anything that happens to scare a little kid is a big deal. We are working hard to make deedee feel safe now cause she never did.

I think alice is afraid of being left all alone. Maybe that's where it comes from. She felt all alone a lot and didn't know what to do.
How do you help deedee to feel safe?
(Sorry about all the questions but I feel on my own right now.)

we have an inside grown up who is much like a comforting person. she helps the littles and the youngers. if it is something that needs to be done on the outside, she will write to me or T that whoever (deedee esp.) needs to be talked to and let talk. Vicki also works with the littles when she's not upset or mad herself. having Anaya is a good thing. we are learning that Anaya has always been there.
