I'm wondering if anyone in here with depression has had success with their concentration and motivation problems once they got on the right medication and/or dose?

I'm having good luck with Celexa in some regards, like better sleep, but I'm on such a low dose (20 mg) that it's not helping with the troubles concerning the other problems.

I'm in this funk right now of "If I can't take care of everything, why take care of anything?" I want to, but there's just so much to do, that I won't get started. My son's going to come home today to a messy, mom-free house and it really bothers me. I've been putting in such late work days to cover the bills that there's no time left for chores. I just want to shut down and go to bed by then.

I know this isn't a valid excuse, but as a Capricorn I'm very concerned with finances and job responsibility. That really fits me. When I'm not performing as well as I could be on the job, it just brings me down, and then I get less motivated, more down, and round and round it goes. Not sure of good title.

When hubby was unmedicated he had little motivation. Once he got on the right dosage of Zoloft he had more energy. He gets more accomplished now than he ever did when he was unmedicated. Maybe mention to your pdoc that the Celexa isn't working. A pdoc will know better antidepressants than a general doctor would. Not sure of good title.

I had very bad concentration problems when I was most severely depressed... unable to read at all or even get through a TV show.

Welbutrin and Celexa helped me with my depression and I am able to read novels again. Not to say that you should try Welbutrin but just to say that the concentration and motivation can indeed come back. It may take a different med or dosage for you or it may just take some time.

I agree that you should talk to a pdoc about it.

Good luck and best wishes

i agree with dexter...celexa helped me to read and even watch t.v. again. it helped my motivation and focus. it was short-lived for me tho and i wasn't keen on upping dose, so i went off of it.

I had a hard time doing alot of things until I got to the right dosage. I went through several dosages until the one I am at currently. I still have a hard time motivating myself. I really have to be strict with myself and make myself do what I need to do. Talking about this with your Doc is prolly the best thing though. They know alot more them me Not sure of good title.

I hope things get better soon for you.
