I am so scared to go back to school. I can't do it. I just can't. So many people, so many stares. I am terrified.
He doesn't understand how much pain I am in. He doesn't understand that I CAN'T DO THIS. Please, I don't know what else to do. ![]() My family doesn't believe me. They think I am crazy. That I need to go to a mental house and that I did ALL of this to get out of school. They are taking everything away from me. Telling them was the worst thing I have ever done. I really wish that my life had ended that night. |

Dear dear Artie ~ I BELIEVE you --- you did NOT do this to get out of school. That's insane. You did this because you hurt!! You did this because you're depressed. You did this because you need HELP! I wish I could get your family to understand!
School isn't even important right now -- YOU are. You need a therapist to talk to -- someone who will listen and help put your thoughts on the right track. It takes time. It takes expertise. This is a great place to start, but a therapist is needed. I hope your parents will see that. Why not let them read this thread -- or some of the other ones? Maybe they'll understand. Hugs, Lee |

I wish we could do an "aging apathy" transfusion -- I've got plenty of apathy to spare; you could have some of mine.
Really, though, I wish I had sparkling words to imbue you with courage, a radiating courage that would transform those stares into admiration. You can only do what you can do. ![]()

What's a really big thing to you isn't so big to other people. Because it's about you, you will totally focus on it. It's probably a little thing to them, if they even think about it, as they have so much going on in their lives, so many people, so many things. Your mind will build this up into having more importance than it really does.
When you do go back to school, whenever that is, just take a series of big, deep breaths, and tell yourself, "I'm OK. I can do this." Once you get the original effort made of going back, everything will go back to pretty normal again, I'll bet. But I would encourage you to take Lee's advice and see if you can delay going back to school till you feel a little stronger. See if your parents will get you to an out-patient therapist. Take care! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
