Hmmm. Why 'funny', Alex?

As for being 'truly happy', I can't say I know what that means. Everyone I know who I think is happy still has their ups and downs -- life being the way it is. Even if you can't imagine being 'truly' happy, can you at least imagine being happier than you are right now?

happiness wouldnt be so good without sadness. if you feel like your stuck in between, that flat indifferent place where theres no hope try and break the routine, do somethin safe but scary.

Happiness is highly overrated! It's hard to acquire and even harder to inspire. It is not derived from material things. Yesterday I found happiness while taking a long walk. I saw beautiful autumn colored trees, I watched a Red Tail Hawk circle over me. I even found pleasure in seeing a group of buzzards doing acrobattics above the ground I walked. If you keep looking you can find it.

I agree with you 100% NICO and it is one of my philosophies of life. It's a yin/yang thing! If you were never sad, how would you even know when you were happy? You could be happy right now and not even know it! I am a firm believer in that our own happiness is our own responsibility. That's why I have that quote in my signature. But it is so hard to keep in mind when you are hit by depression, and depression makes EVERYTHING seem negative or at best, numb.

>>try and break the routine, do somethin safe but scary.

That is a great idea! Maybe that's why I like rollercoasters so much!

ZuZu I like what you said. Wondering if you ever read The Celestine Prophesy? One aspect of the story is learning to tap positive energy by learning to really see and feel the beauty in everything around us. That's what your statements of the autumn trees and birds reminded me of.

Dave,
I haven't read the book you mentioned, but I'd like to. I used to read constantly but haven't been able to concentrate or focus for way too long.

My appreciation of nature and all that surrounds it comes from childhood. My nickname as a little girl was street runner. I traveled every street and alley in Coffeyville, Ks. taking in all I could. Somehow that appealed to me more than other childhood activities.
I guess it still does.

I believe our entire life is a rouge patch that we on our owns have slowly smooth out with a jagged rock...Makes no since at first...but it true. A lot of us right now don't believe any of us can be truely happy... I keep thinkin that too.. But ya know, the more you tell yourself your never gonna be happy, the more your right....
The only way it can change is when you start telling yourself "I am going to be happy again"

I forgive you. Its just that I simply see happiness and depression as an illusion, and that really influances me, so I am not very happy, nor would I be depressed
