I have been dxed with ptsd. Then I took the quiz on this site for depression and it told me that I have severe depression. I never thought that I had depression because I am not sad or suicidal. However, it takes me an eternity to do anything... days, weeks, or even months to clean or write a letter or make a phone call. I drag myself out of bed each morning and do not function well enough to keep a fulltime job. Either I work part-time or I do full-time for several months until I can't force myself anymore and I have several months of sick leave before beginning the cycle again.

I too have PTSD, but do not suffer with depression. For me it's severe anxiety. Have you seen a doctor to see if there is anything they can do to help you? If you are into the all natural, Vitamin D and B are really good for the moods. Vitamin D because of it being winter and the sun is partially where we get our D. Sorry, I'm rambling

Have you recently had a child? Horomones are a big culprit for how women feel too. Have you been seeing a therapist? Sounds like you may need someone to help guide you in your recovering journey.

I wish you the best. I had P.P.D. and remember it being the worst feeling. Nothing I told myself seemed to pull me out of it. It did take a doctor to prescribe Effexor and that worked rather quickly. But ultimately, a therapist was the one that helped me sort thru the pieces of skeleton that were in my closet. I still deal with anxiety, but I take it one day at a time. Good Luck!

One often sees the two together, unfortunately.

Hello, Roses4me! I've long been diagnosed with depression but never with PTSD, though my psychiatrist is a PTSD specialist and I see him in a PTSD clinic.

My depression is only rarely marked by classical sadness, though I do experience suicidal ideation (without intent). Most of the time I'm lethargic and aimless.

That's me! I'm just not very functional, period.

Would you feel comfortable discussing depression with your doctor/therapist?

Oh, my roses! So sorry your support team isn't so supportive, not ideal, anyway! Does sound to me like you might have depression. I was suffering for a long time with inadequate medication. Didn't realize it so much, just stopped caring to do anything. I did realize afterwards that the extreme irritability I had was related to the depression. So now, if I get very upset abou something, I know I'm more depresse than I think. That's my signal. Meds and therapy might help you a lot.
