Does anyone here ever feel like you are so (mentally) tired you can't even think to talk? -
Or like you are so stressed anything else with make your head explode? Almost like you can't fit anything else in...it's hard to explain...like you are maxed out emotionally - this is what happened to me after I went to court -the weeks after... A PTSD thing maybe...

I've been there, Yack. I think I am there right now, actually. I think there is just so much going on for us in certain areas of our lives that any more blows to us in those areas will make us explode!
I'm struggling with a few things that make me absolutely crazy anymore.

I experienced this one time. I just couldn't do anything else, no matter how hard I tried. It was like too many gears in my brain were trying to run at the same time and the whole machine locked up on me.

Totally understand what you mean.
Sometimes my head is so exhausted from all the thoughts that swirl in it that I get too tired to talk, eat, or I go off in a fog and forget where and what I am doing. So, although perhaps this type of feeling isn't "NORMAL" I think many people experience it. Hang in there! |

yeah, that all sounds just like the sort of thing I have to deal with, too...sometimes I'll look at a to do list, or whatever, and my it's like my brain turns off--also fatigue, both mental and physical are all things you'll deal with from time to time.
I hope you get to feeling better, things will look up eventually! DJ

During my worst depressions I could barely think. My speech was very slow because I just couldnt keep my thoughts together. These were also the depressive episodes that I was emotionally frozen-I did not cry or feel sad---I simply didnt feel. Numb and slow. It was awful and way beyond what most folks mean when they talk about depression.

Yuck. I am sorry Kismet.
I am starting to feel again. That gives me some optimism to look forward.

Yes. It's sometimes considered "sensory overload." When we are depressed, it doesn't take much to reach that state, imo. TC (((yack)))

Yack,
What you describe I think of as normal when you're dealing with, or have been dealing with a very stressful situation for an extended period of time. Having PTSD is another whole bag of games. Jane - Oz |

sensory overload IS a problem with PTSD. My T has said that NONE of his PTSD patients go to a certain local chain restaurant (Friday's)... not something we got together and decided, but found out each on our own... TOO MUCH SENSORY INPUT... drives us right out of there! With ptsd I think we tend to react.... outwardly agitatively..
with depression we respond... by withdrawing and numbing?

I have sensory overload...
I jump from loud noises, I hate bright lights, my mom chopping on a cutting board drives me crazy....I watched a scary movie (which I usually love) and was sweating (palms)... It is a real problem... My adrenal glands are whacked out, I know that, but it is aggravating...my doctor told me this...he is an MD and does supplements too (a little more alternative).... I hope this goes away...or lessens....It is horrible...I am improving overall but I am really uncomfortable much of the time....

Yack,
Sounds like PTSD. My nerves just aren't the same since the trauma in my life. You might want to try developing a taste for other types of movies. No one deliberately invites trauma into their lives, especially when it leaves us with unwelcome PTSD. Jane - Oz |

((((My dear Yack))))
I have experienced what you have described zillions of times during different periods of therapy. The zoned-out head; the alternate feelings of head about to implode/explode; thinking being painful; the thought of eating (even if tummy is growling) being totally disgusting in thought and/or nature. Sweating like "blind date" syndrome; a movie I own that I've seen a dozen times, suddenly freaking me out to the max....................... ![]() These were generally during depressive episodes (major)triggered by PSTD memories........ ![]() ![]() Feel better soon........?? ![]() ![]() Prismatic9
