I'm really sensitive lately. I start crying over pretty much nothing. I hate this kind of depression. I can mostly stop myself crying, but I know that one day I'm just gonna start sobbing in the middle of a lesson, knowing my luck. Anyone else feel like this?

I dont feel like this now but I have done in the past. Its the worse way to feel. Its like having a feeling all about and around you. It took a long time for it to pass but it did, but only when I actually talked out what was wrong and tried to look at my problems.

Im sending you love

T-Rose,

Do you think it has to do with the holidays, or did you suffer a loss at this time of the year?

I definitely get more sensitive this time of year. For me, I think it's a combination of:

- weather/sunlight
- nostalgia over lost youth, triggered by holiday memories
- not exercising as much due to the weather (I bicycle a LOT in the spring and summer) and feeling worse about my body

I burst into uncontrollable tears last Friday at a restaurant, and had a little temper tantrum about my weight -- I refused to eat anything all day because I had decided that I had become enormous in the past few months (mind you, I'm still a size 8 -- hardly enormous).

Sigh.

Oh yes!

It's worse when you are the teacher and you know you are going to cry. Hasn't happened to me often, but it is really hard.

But i guess it is better to let it out than hide it inside.

I think the feeling is common for those of us who experience depression... for some people the public releases lessen if they allow themselves to cry in private, or at least at home, etc... If you continue to just hold back all the time, there's a good likelihood imo that you won't be able to control it in public.

There isn't a T session that goes by that at least a few tears don't run down my face... even though I'm not actively "crying." I'm not one to sob uncontrollably to begin with though... maybe if I did or could, I'd feel different? *Sigh*

I definitely get that way. It's so annoying. The other night I started crying because I couldn't seem to park my hubby's car. Silly, I know, but I had had enough.

I also get more sensitive and emotionally vulnerable around PMS time. But other times, it's just part of depression or overwhelming stress.

I hope you start to feel better soon, T-rose.

Sometimes, the lesss I fight my feelings and just let them come when they come, the sooner they go when they go. As for being in the classroom, I would have appreciated a teacher who got teary saying, something like, "Whew, I just have to have a little cry right now" you don't have to go into details. Someone modelling "being human" would have been such a gift to me. Being sad, with grace, in public. Whew, woulda helped me with my stuff, I woulda LOVED that teacher. What age are your students?
